I recently did a challenge with my friend, we are both going to choose a European super sedan. So he chose a bmw M5 and for me...a E55:dopey:. Now I know that all the odds are against me since the M5 is lighter, more horsepower, 7 speed smg...:nervous: After many days of planning, I decided to tune this amg into a meaner one, so I can at least stand a chance with the M5 on the Ring.
Here are the mods I have installed:
Engine:
- Oil Change :sly:
- Na tuning Stage 1

Drivetrain
- Twin plate clutch
- Sport Flywheel
-Carbon Driveshaft

Tires
-Sport Medium

Transmission:
Full Customize
Auto:16

Suspension:
Full Customize
Spring Rate: F7.0,R6.6
Ride Height: F122,R122
Shock(Bound) F6,R6
Shock(Rebound)F8,R8
Camber F2,R1
Toe F2,R0
Stabilizer F4,R4

Anyone can try these settings out and give me a hand, cause I still feel understeer on the car. I used these settings to get a laptime of just under a minute on the Tsukuba circuit. As for the Ring, I got a time of 7:58,433, and I've been using the replay to see how the suspension is doing, since its softly sprung, but there wasn't any bottoming out, and the suspension soaked up the bumps very smoothly, but there's a certain amount of dive and squat, as well as roll. I give a big Thanks to those that can give me a hand 👍

Hi, I dont have time at the moment to test your car but I might have some pointers for you to try. I have worked extensively on many race cars in Australia ranging from Club/Hillclimb to Touring Cars, mainly on vehicle setup.

Generally with a car like the E55 it will body roll quite a bit and understeer heaps from the factory, just as you have described from your tests.

Try lowering your front bar and and make your rear stiffer. This should introduce some oversteer.

Add some rate to front and rear springs, about 12 on the front and 11 rear. This will reduce roll resistance.

Take some rebound out of the car, try 7 front and rear.

Try a bit more front camber, maybe 2.6ish and none on the back. Rear camber is seriously bad for understeer.

As a small track test, Tsukuba is ideal for quick laptimes and quickly comparing data, but doesn't act like the Ring at all, way too smooth and flat. Maybe you could try El Capitan?

Good luck with your testing, let us know how it all goes.

When is the big race scheduled for?

cheers

Charlie

PS. Remember every car is different in each drivers hands, you might not like the changes but the stopwatch might, or vise-verse. :)

im not on Gt4 right now but the way my E55 is tuned ive maxxed the power and all other upgrades and i havent really touched much but i stiffened the suspension and lowered it and it doesnt tend to understeer (or oversteer for that matter)

I've always found that Deep Forest works quite well as a place to quickly test 'ring set-ups. Its still not the same, but its certainly on of the closest of the shorter tracks.

Good one, I didn't even think of Deep Forest, it should work well for testing Ring setups.

I have never liked the track so I dont race there unless I have to :D

i tried it out i must say, the brakes need to be upgraded and possibly a custom LSD and the M5 wouldnt stand a chance, i noticed a slight bit of understeer but overall the car. the car felt really controllable, very fun.

I see, I'll put a LSD and maybe some sport brakes. :)

I've been wondering whether the LSD is working when I release the gas? I installed a Full customize one but that only changes the acceleration and deceleration characteristics of the car, but when no power is applied, the car still understeers. So maybe I'll firm up the springs and see what happens. :D
