EA is evil! Huayra game-patented?!

Yup. I've heard it tons of times before and I just tried to google it. Only forums came up with questions and comments about it. Sorry I didn't find anything official. Kazanouri got a Porsche himself, though. Why wouldn't it be in the game if it wasn't for contracts Porsche had with Microsoft and EA? NFS and FMS is the only titles that assumably have the contracts.

You should really check this forum (maybe search or advanced search) for the proper information on this. There are reposts of actual letters people have received from Porsche in regard to this very issue right here in the forum. This information shouldn't have to be repeated on the forum "ad nauseum".

Many have said this before including me, Microsoft has no official contract directly with Porsche and has nothing to do with whether it's in GT5 or not. That's up to EA. EA has an exclusive license with Porsche for video games. That license allows them to sell sub-licenses to other game developers. EA sold a sub-license to Turn 10 (the developers of Forza Motorsport) so they could include Porsche in Forza. PD could buy a sub-license as well to include Porsche in GT5, but they apparently have not worked out the details or just didn't feel like paying what EA wanted.

As for your original statement that "EA is Evil", well you could use that same logic on PD. Is PD evil because they released a seemingly unfinished game to the masses so they could profit from the holiday shopping season? It's just business, plain and simple.

As for Shift 2, I'm looking forward to it's release. I currently have it on pre-order. I'm not bound by loyalty to one racing game or another. I like certain aspects of all of them. :)

EA are hogs, simple.

I might get Shift 2 if the reviews are good enough.

Good reviews are the key to it. Especially after that stunt EA pulled last time selling Shift 1 as the sim to end all sims, and publicly crapping all over other titles. Did they ever fix the force feedback? I gave up trying to tweak my wheel a few days after launch.

I have yet to see anything to indicate that the Huayra will not be featured in future games. I have seen a video trying to very hard suggest that without coming out and saying it. I can't help but think that if that were the case, that video would have been very clear about the achievement. There are many ways to interpret "exclusive" and EA's marketing team knows this.

and "game-patented?"
That gave me my chuckle for the morning.

WOWWWWWWWWWW WOOOOWOOOWOWO :scared: that's amazing !!!!! I'm definitely buying shift 2 👍 I'm so happy, my god this is like the best news ever !!!! EA is a great company, fantastic move from their marketing director, I've wonder now it they bought any other Excluseive.

Now guys guys !!!!!!!!!! What big car is missing in GT5?? Well KOENIGSEGG !!!!!!!!!!!!! MAYBE, EA also bought exclusive license for KOENIGSEGG to their Shift 2: bowdown::bowdown::bowdown: Please god please make this to be true. Koenigsegg was in first Shift, now maybe Agera appears in Shift 2

Don't worry! I am sure after 3 years when GT6 Prologue is released EA's exclusive rights for the Pagani Huayra will have expired. So in 6 years when GT6 is released you will get a incredibly detailed standard model, without cockpit, without damage and with high definition vacuum cleaner sounds. Just like the Veyron! Of course by then there will be another newer Pagani...

That is of course if they have time left from developing the important GT6 features like B-Spec, Photomode, Remote Races, Museum cards etc. Oh and of course they would have to model 100 new Skylines and 125 new Mazda Miatas! Glad they get their priorities straight!

Besides everyone knows how great the officially licensed content turns up in the hands of PD. The Top Gear Test Track in GT5 sure did turned out great with the invisible walls and with 2 out of 3 races featuring VW Beetle derivatives (the most hated car by the show's hosts and rightly so). Oh, and rolling starts... 👎

Or the WRC license, PD sure put it in good use. I mean 15sec stages with 10 lane-wide roads is just like the real thing right? Yeah, REAL rally doesn't have mountain stages, all the special stages are filled with invisible walls and there are no services between stages! Evolution Studios (the developer of WRC1,2,3,4 on PS2) didn't do a great job with the WRC games, I am so glad that PD put out a good rally game... 👎

Nascar anyone?...

Why would any manufacturer prefer PD and the GT series? They make the cars sound like vacuum cleaners, they make them handle like crap (like Ferrari, Lotus, Murcielago) when in reality they are great cars or they don't even bother to model them properly (like classic cars like the Stratos, Alpine or modern super-cars like the Veyron). I am sure in the hands of PD Huayra wouldn't look good just like Ferrari Enzo, Lotus Elise, Lamborghini Murcielago turned up awful in GT5 which couldn't be further from the truth...

Let's see...
  • The Top Gear license passed to the hands of Microsoft after the very bad job of PD in GT5. I don't blame them, I am sure Turn10 will do a good job and not try to make the TV show look bad just like PD did in GT5.
  • Huayra is in the hands of EA. SMS looks like they did a stellar job! And I wouldn't be suprised if Huraya is featured also in Forza 4 or a Forza 4 DLC, just like Forza 3 has Porsche. Cause unlike PD, there are other developers who want to make racing games instead of RPG games like PD...

Besides why do GT5's players care about Huayra? GT5 is not about supercars, it's about Skylines & Miatas, B-Spec and Photomode! If it was about super-cars they wouldn't have a standard model Veyron. Or instead of modeling the awfull VW cars and the electric vehicles they would model for example the Gumpert, Maserati MC12, BMW M1 or a proper Caterham.

So be patient... in 6 years (hopefully) when GT6 is released you will get your standard model Huayra! But I wouldn't be so sure that GT6 will ever be released after the train-wreck that is GT5... ;)

(I have a PS3, I don't have a 360, I haven't played Forza 3, I bought GT5, it was nice for a while cause some cars (very few...) handle nice and Nordschleife was great but as a complete game is awful in my opinion. The latest patch (online races... yeah...) proves to me that PD doesn't care about racing games and I don't hope anymore that GT5 will ever be fixed.)

Do you want me to say how many cars are in GT5 and will not be in Shift 2? I guess so:indiff:...
I just hope that Shift 2 will be as good as EA says...

Until someone tells me how to pronounce the Huayra (who-ay-rah? hooah-yeraa?) I don't really care. Also, people in suits ruin everything.

I have quite low hopes for Shift 2 after the first one though.. They clearly spent so much time making the cockpit jiggle and get blurry that they forgot to write a physics engine.

The "uay" triphthong is just like it is in Uruguay. So yeah, just put a Spanishy-sounding h in front of it and roll (well, flap) the r into the final a.

You are now free to care. :D

EDIT: Actually, I may have been too hasty. Anyone up on their Quechuan?
teh internets
Etymology.—‘‘Huayra’’ is a Quechuan word, attributable to the indigenous peoples of present-day northern Argentina and southern Bolivia, which means wind or windy.

EDIT: Boom. The use of the name on a car is not unique, perhaps unsurprisingly.
wikipedia
Huayra (pronounced waɪ-rah) is the word for "wind" in the South American language of Quechua.

I'll be buying Shift 2, if Ferrari isn't XBOX 360 only. That really ticked me off. And if Turn 10 can get a sub licence from EA for Porsche, then PD should be able to get one for the Huayra.

It's not EA, it's the guy who makes Shift 2. Well, EA makes the licencing deals but the developer is cocky, having already said it will be the best racing game of all time. I'm expecting bribery so the game gets insanely high review scores, or the series' image will be ruined.

EA licencing is total bull:censored:.

Because he's going to say, "The game is good, but there are better out there.", isn't he?

I love how everyone calls EA out for being evil, for getting exclusive licenses, something PD has. PD could've got an exclusive license on the Huarya if they wanted it.

Are people not aware that exclusive licenses are common practice? Don't get me wrong, I can see why you'd be annoyed to not have a car like that in GT5, but why does that make EA evil and all the other asinine comments about them.

i say let them have it; if we can have more RM cars, from Italy. RM Enzo, RM Gallardo, RM Murcielago, RM 458, RM DB9, hell i'll even be happy with an RM GTR!!! and update some of the racing cars; that Corvette C5R is over ten years old. I'm sure they can model and get the specs on the new C6R. i'm just saying...

BTW one thing i have not read anywhere on the forums is why we dont have a wet Tsukuba this GT?? we had a wet Tsukuba in GT4, and Tsukuba is on the same island as PD's headquarters so i figure they'd hop on a train and go get some intel...

pagani-nfs-shift2.jpg

dem graphics:drool::lol:

God what are they doing? That looks worse than gt4

Edit- I was thinking about getting shift (Mostly for the inclusion of Road America) but that trailer literally gave me a headache... No thanks.

This is similar of an Enzo

the Zonda R '09 is just as badass, and meets my pagani needs
besides who needs a car they cannot pronounce... huarymenemasyemasnasm

Wait a second, didn't we see NFS hot pursuit 3months ago?

wouldn't be surprised if we get NFS shift 3 in august

I feel like I'm the only one who played NFS Shift and remembers how poorly designed aspects of it were.I remember how some events you couldnt even race because of errors that made it through QC and product testing. (The Porsche Carrera GT challenge springs to mind for not being able to stay on the ground as you were driving through the dip at Eau Rouge. As does the Ford GT vs. Dodge Viper challenge with the not being able to leave the starting line, ugh) I mean GT5 is far from perfect but NFS wasnt the pinnacle of console racing games either and im sure that Shift 2 is an evolution of that programming.

I think i'll buy this...used, sometime after the release.

" huarymenemasyemasnasm " LOL, hahaahahha

This isn't EA's fault, far from it. The blame lies firmly at Polyphony/Sony's feet. If Gran Turismo 5 was the be all, end all, racing (sorry, driving) simulator that some people seem to think it is, don't you think car companies would want to be involved? Ofcourse they would, so why aren't they? Yes, some have contracts with EA, but they didn't have to sign them. EA couldn't have outbid Sony either, so why exactly would certain companies not want to be involved in Gran Turismo?

If they think that adding 1 car are going to make a "better than average game"... It´s like when a Football club contract a "star" only to shut up their funs. It´s ridiculous, like this thread... Remember shift 1...:nervous:

PD: EA director is prepotent

Get on the blower to RUF then & see what they have planned for the Carrera GT, GT3 RS & maybe a 959. Man i'd love to see a 959 in the game 👍
They having nothing planned; 2 of those models are no longer in production, & the closest to the GT3 is the RGT.

The developer behind Shift 2 consists of people behind the GTR/2 franchise. So, they already have a strong group to back up their statement.

The Agera is in Shift 2.

So EA has more money than Sony now?

I don't know....

But GT5 spend money on cars like Skylines, and EA spend on supercars

EG.

100 Skylines = $ 100.000
Huyria = $ 100.000

Got it ?

PD preffer have more cars, but "worse" cars
EA preffer less cars, but "better" cars

You shouldn't make assumptions on something you know NOTHING about.
