Yup. I've heard it tons of times before and I just tried to google it. Only forums came up with questions and comments about it. Sorry I didn't find anything official. Kazanouri got a Porsche himself, though. Why wouldn't it be in the game if it wasn't for contracts Porsche had with Microsoft and EA? NFS and FMS is the only titles that assumably have the contracts.
You should really check this forum (maybe search or advanced search) for the proper information on this. There are reposts of actual letters people have received from Porsche in regard to this very issue right here in the forum. This information shouldn't have to be repeated on the forum "ad nauseum".
Many have said this before including me, Microsoft has no official contract directly with Porsche and has nothing to do with whether it's in GT5 or not. That's up to EA. EA has an exclusive license with Porsche for video games. That license allows them to sell sub-licenses to other game developers. EA sold a sub-license to Turn 10 (the developers of Forza Motorsport) so they could include Porsche in Forza. PD could buy a sub-license as well to include Porsche in GT5, but they apparently have not worked out the details or just didn't feel like paying what EA wanted.
As for your original statement that "EA is Evil", well you could use that same logic on PD. Is PD evil because they released a seemingly unfinished game to the masses so they could profit from the holiday shopping season? It's just business, plain and simple.
As for Shift 2, I'm looking forward to it's release. I currently have it on pre-order. I'm not bound by loyalty to one racing game or another. I like certain aspects of all of them.
