Is it the one with the super tight corners?

Get a Mk1 Golf and floor the gas pedal while you keep the steering at max lock into the corner. You'll be laughing the whole time finishing half a lap in front of the AI.

It has to be Japanese.

I too am having issues with this race, seems like one of the cars always pull away right at the start. Reminds me of Spain in F1 2010.

The race I'm talking about does require a Retro Japanese car (Supra, R32).

I actually had my best time and finish before I upgraded my Supra too much. I'm thinking about going back to a lower powered Supra or R32.

Go to the tuning section for you car and turn the steering lock setting all the way to max. This will allow you to achieve max lock faster which what you need for a racing wheel

Steering lock and modified Toyota AE did it for me, on PS3 Slim/Fanatec GT3 RS V.2.

I have the in-game lock to 450, and I set the wheel's sensitivity to 370 for the event.

This is indeed a tricky event. I think on my best try I finished third with the Skyline - so at least enough to be on the podium - but I haven't quite cracked the strategy for golding it yet.

I couldn't do it with a tuned Supra, let alone the Works R32, so after a lot of trial and error (more errors than trials, though), I bought an AE86, upgraded it to D499 and it became a walk in the park.
The higher cornering speeds I could maintain were enough to catch the guy up front, but I'm afraid my overtaking maneuver wasn't too clean :sly:

Either way, got first pretty easily afterwards.

I finally finished 3rd in my 8xx Supra after many tries. Once I got third, I got out of there and haven't been back!

Maybe I'll try that too. I don't think HP is helpful there, and it may even hurt. Early on, I was getting better times in my low HP Supra than I did after I upgraded them. I also didn't think the R32 turned quickly enough so I stuck with the Supra.

You need quick turning and acceleration...and you gotta be lucky when you trade paint with those other AI bastards! I don't think it's possible to drive a clean race in that one!

I used the lowest rated PI car for this race and just kept my line as clean as possible. You have to give it gas 100% through the last little S before the finish line. That is the only way I could manage to get "P1 we're the winner!" *cringes for a second*

I feel like the game will "punish" me if I try to use a beefed up car. For example, I can win the race pretty easily with a low rated car but if I use my souped up Supra, they destroy me.

This is still one of the most challenging races I've been through, next to the Modern A invitational.

That's just the nature of a track like Ebisu. That's why you see it in videos to demonstrate hoe low pwered AE86's will beat basically anything... Because the track is tailor made for cars like them.

And that D-Mac is a great driver...but so am I!

I turned the speech off for a while recently, but I missed my kudos when I made the podium, so I turned him back on.

Of course! I was just poking fun at Gittin JR with his tireless banter in the game :)

So am I (he actually says that "feels good to be a winner, doesn't it?") :sly:

I always laugh when he says "you were just plain unlucky!" even when it is super obvious that I lost due to some incredibly incompetent driving :dopey:

Yep, that one makes me laugh too! I can crash 12 times, lose my hood and lots of other parts off my car, almost get lapped, and finish with a totally bashed up car...and he still says I was just plain unlucky.

He likes to build up our egos, I guess.
