I've never, ever delved into the world of editing music on computer. Now, there are two songs that I'd like to modify, because I want to cut out one small section of them and play it over and over again (I don't like the rest of the song), creating a new song, in a way. Do any of you audiophiles know of good programs that do this sort of thing? Is it a very difficult thing to do?

Looking for a free program? Goldwave or any wave editor for that matter should do. If you have a creative sound card, chances are that you have a Wave Editor program. If you have a recent copy of Nero Burning Rom, chances are you have their wave editor as well.

Most if not all wave editors will display the song graphically in a wave form. By playing back and watching the cursor, you should be able to decide where in the wave form, you can cut/copy/paste. You can graphically cut/copy/paste the audio like you would graphic material.

Let me know if you have any questions, it's actually a pretty easy process.

I you want something that will allow you to do a little more, then you should check out Acid from Sonic Foundry, or Cake Walk.;)
