This morning, one of my buddies came onto MSN and sent me a link to a G4 Mac at TigerDirect... it was probably one of the top end macs back in the days of the G4... of course this one is new. Check the specs:

So you may be wondering what's so special about it. Well, I'll tell you. The machine has a retail price of around $2500 canadian. Of course, due to a typo on TigerDirect's part, the website listed the price at a fantabulous $124.99 Canadian. Thaaats right. $124.99 Canadian for a $2500 G4 :D. Here's the catch though. The product name is something called Knockout V2 EN-Mac/Win Lic 1-10. But the product details below that have everything to do with the macintosh desktop whose specs I just provided - NOT some software called Knockout.

They have since corrected the error but of course, I have the page with the $124.99 pricetag saved as an adobe acrobat file for future reference (in case they deny the claim)

I bought one, my friend bought like 10 of them. Here's to hoping that we get computers and not some software :P

Be prepared to go in court if you and your friend effectively want the G4s... and even then, I wouldn't have very high hopes. I recall a recent case like this where it was too obvious that the advertised price was erroneous, the customer had a bit of trouble convincing the judge that they honestly thought it was the real price.

If they don't send the mac, all I want is my money back. I know it's a typo on their part and usually they're obligated to deliver the product you saw. We ordered on the assumption that it was a G4 mac - not software. After all, companies constantly use below cost pricing in order to bring customers into the store. If I must go to a lawyer, i'll either talk to one of my law professors or to the lawyer my university provides for free.

Perhaps, but not with 95% rebates on something like a new Mac! :P

Anyways, good luck, that would obviously be the deal of the year.

(what price is your friend selling his G4s if it works? :dopey: )

He'll probably sell for somewhere between $1500 and retail market price. Even if he sells only one, he'll completely break even from the cost of 10 of these machines

Tiger Direct is notorious for price errors (so is Outpost.com). I would avoid them next time.
