Electronic Speed Controller - Help 1

I little good advice if someone can help please.

I have recently just bought a Tamiya TLO1 chassis (mercedes), i have just built it an dran it a few times, and it goes really really well !

I have just ballraced the vehicle (not ran it yet cos it's been raing), but i have read so much about buying ans ESC.

Can anyone tell me in detail the real benefits of buying one and any disadvantages to buying one?

I currently have a 540 motor, how much faster will it make it if any? And will the car peform dirrently when conering IE drifting out etc.

Plus where and which one should i buy????

Sorry if there is alot of questions, but i'm new to all this and very intrested. Your help would be appreciated guys !

judging by the lack of replies im guessing your post is too advanced for this forum. i have little idea about what you posted. i don't even know what ballracing is?!

Tamiya means Remote/Radio Control Cars... I guess it vaguely fits "Cars in General", but I'm sure there's a hobbies forum it can be moved to where it might be better served...

get a nice Nova ESC, then get a 14 turn motor or so, then get a newer, more powerful battery pack. you will be amazed, you would have like twice the power and speed.
