Anyone with a good tune for the 300ZX?

I've messed around with it a bunch but I just can't get it right. :nervous:

Thanks in advance. đź‘Ť

Lipstick on a pig?

Just kidding. I would like to know as well. As the G25 collects dust waiting for a new set up to arrive, trying to tame this fat piece o' junk is quite difficult with a DualShock.

Mine drives just fine. My best advice is to adjust the spring rate and dampers one at a time until the car starts to act the way you want it. After that maybe tweak the stabilizers and lastly fine tune with some toe and camber. I'll be selling my own specially tuned 300ZX model in the near future if you would prefer to buy one that is already tuned.

My current setup is running full power (over 660 I believe).

Could you just share your tune? Pwetty pweese? :)

I would actually like to see what others can come up with to compare to mine. It is a good learning experience to put a little time into tuning. If no one is willing to share a setup then I might have to resort to posting mine up.

What have you guys/gals tried so far for tuning?

From what I can remember:

Height: -10 / -10
Spring Rates: 10.2 / 7.8
Ext: 6 / 7
Comp: 6 / 7
Anti Roll Bars: 2 / 4
Camber: .8 / .7
Toe: -.05 / .05

Use it for mostly time attack on the Nurburgring.

Anyone else going to post their setup? I hope to test out tarckstar's setup by this weekend for comparison.

You'll be competing against me RJ. ;) I've got an almost new (600km old) '98 version that I'll be doing up aswell for GME as a tribute to my cousin who owns one exactly like I bought, but it might not cop a full power tune.....more a finesse tune to make her handle better.

Ugh... this is embarrassing, I'm trying to take Why_spyder's advice and do the work myself, but I'm having a little trouble achieving a decent handling 300zx. I will post my tune soon...

Don't give up - keep working at it. My first tune didn't turn out as good as I'd hoped and ended up scrapping it for the new one. Try to get it where you like it and have someone try it out for a 2nd opinion.

I had much the same problem, then I thought of something new to try... Which worked stunningly well.

Setup here

Give it - toe on the rear, like -.10 for starters. Should help with under. If you need more steering response on turn in, give -.05 toe or something like that in the front. The toe settings in GT5 works wonders IMO.

EDIT: Actually if you have racing suspension, just make toe 0 on the rear. Don't give any toe on the rear until you dial in the other aspects of the suspension.

Tarckstar - are those the only things you have changed on your car? What kind of power are you driving with? What kind of tires are you using? How are your brakes setup?

Rotary, I just finished running your tune (with higher horsepower). I think I will have to post my setup for others to try now.

Input would be nice. I know for a fact that mine does not behave well with the high-RPM turbo (response and power delivery feels wrong).

Ah, that is something I will need to change then and retest, hopefully tonight. I'll give you some accurate feedback once I actually test it AS DESIGNED.:sly:

I briefly tried Rotary's tune last night in some free run, and it was a beast to control on the Top Gear track. I didn't get enough seat time to properly make a judgement however. Hopefully tonight.....

Also, Why, I have been to Boscobel to visit the Nu Pak facility. Good to see another Wisconsinite on here.
