elise tuning

i bought an elise (not the motor sports elise) and since tuning it i have a problem with it getting a little loose at the rear end. what can i do to remedy this problem?

its not that im gunning it too hard out of the corners as it happens the worst when im just coasting, it all seems fine, then when i try to straighten out i get some bad side to side swaying.

anyway, what can i do camber/toe wise, spring rates etc to get my ass stuck to the road?

on a side note i have always wondered if there is some sort of relationship between ride height, spring rate and car weight. help is appreciated

what you're experience is called lift off throttle oversteer. there's a few different names for it but whatever - it's all the same. when you lift off the throttle the weight shifts to the front tires and the rear can come loose. in very general terms, you could stiffen up the front (raise spring, damping, and sway bar rates) and loosen up the rear. just mess around with doing that until you find something you like. i personally enjoy the lift off oversteer that i get in the elise or else i'd let you know what my settings are. it's a very controlled drift. you just have to ease back on to the throttle to get the weight back to the rear tires to make sure it doesn't snap around when you do start accelerating again.

ill try those basmasta7.

and thanks for the tip jay but i already had a wing on it.

could you send me your settings basmasta7 bacause its not that im opposed to a little drifting (thats the reason i loved the elise in 3) its just that my setup dont feel quite right, know what i mean?

the elise is best handling car till you get into racecars like the escudo and such... now that im further in the game is set it up for drift, with full mods... so fun and i can still use it to bead jgtc and other similar level races

i fully tuned a 111R elise and have the same problem, the rear end comes loose very easily. i lose it on the down hill section of almafi every time, (forward, after the esses in the shade, then around the bend).

My 111R is fully modded, including the Stage 2 Turbo (listed as 3 further down because that's how it's listed in my settings). I corrected the steering problems with the brake controller. It's still twitchy but not nearly as bad as before. Of course, I'm a fairly reckless driver. :sly: These can definitely be improved upon, but they kept me on the road....

This was a Godsend. Thanks. I was having problems with this car(one of my faves) and found your set up. I tried it verbetum, but I needed to tweek it for me somewhat after some test laps. That's what's great about this game and forums.
Anyway, I was getting 200ASP for each race in the British Cup! Over 1000ASP for 15 laps! Awesome. Besides that it was a blast to drive. Here's my changes (changes only) to the set up above:

Just to add another 'take' on tuning the Elise, here's the set-up I spannered for a full-dress 190 on S2 tyres (the only shiny kit not bought was weight reduction 3 and she's running NA and not Turbo).

I find her very stable and driveable now whereas before she was lift-off oversteer death waiting to happen .

Hope that these're of some use to someone (tho' of course the usual proviso's about driving styles apply :D).
