Engine Swap

So I own a 1990 Mercedes 300e 2.6l automatic, the engine’s got 317k miles. Still runs great and should for awhile but I’m looking for some more power. I’d appreciate if someone could give me some advice on the engine that would take this car to the next level.

To be honest I'd look for a clean E320 or 400E/E420. If you are adamant on a swap the late 3.2 M104 will be the easiest of the two as your car is already a six shooter. The M119 V8 will be more of an improvement.

I had a OM603 non turbo 105 hp diesel, that thing was slow.

Your best bet is probably to try and find a site that specializes/is dedicated to W124s or pre-Chrysler Benzes. That's where you'll find the most details about stuff of that nature from people who have already done it.

This. Benzworld is a nice resource, just bear in mind those guys are usually pretty uptight and act as if old Benz cars are God's gift to mankind.
