Okay heres the story:

I decided to set up my computer so that we (me, my mum and my sister) didn't share one user account on this computer. So I set up three WinME accounts. But I then realised that it was going to be harder to use then before, and I knew that both my mum and sister wouldn't like it. So I went into the 'Users' menu in the Control Panel, and deleted all three accounts. I then restarted only to come up with a log onto windows prompt with no names in it, I just click cancel and it continues loading up. I was then tinkering around the control panel and was in the Network area when I saw a 'Enter Password for Users' doorad. I removed it, and restarted again.

Only to have it come up with a completely different Enter Password Prompt.

We did have this happen to us before, and it only happened after we installed our ADSL modem. When the hard drive went kaput, we got the technician to get rid of this prompt, but I don't know how to.

Can anybody help me?

God I hate WinME. :irked:

I'm guessing a bit here, but I'll give it a shot...

If you want to create login accounts for each user, and have it easy to select between them, then you should:
1. Create the accounts.
2. In the Networking Control Panel, you will see a "Default Logon" item (can't remember the exact wording). If you select "Microsoft Family Logon", it gives you a list of the user accounts that are defined on the machine, from which you can select.

Hope that helps, if not, can you give us some more detail, concentrating on what the login boxes look like?

you could always just tell them to click on that X box or the cancle box and they can use the computer. Stupid logon "protection"....

It's not stupid if you actually want to restrict access to areas/files/functions. My wife is pretty much only allowed to run the core Office applications on my home computer. Don't want her messing with my web site!

, that sounds a bit like me... I have a second account setup on the iBook for my parents, since I don't want them to mess with anything. It's nice to be the admin of a computer. :mischievous:

Are we talking about Windows based off of the Win95 core or the NT core? Because I was refurring to the Win95 core. Anywho, I shouldn't get too wrapped up in this too much. WinXP and Linux work well for me.

I'll do a restart and see if I can get a screenshot of it.

It has nothing to do with the User logon anymore.. I disabled that.

Voila.

Welcome To Windows.

Oh how Windows is great, agree with me Sage?

I fixed it at one time, but that was months ago, when I still had WinME on my CrapComputer(Not a Compaq, it's a Gateway, but it's 5 years old..) Sorry, but I forgot how I fixed it, or maybe it only came up when I booted up with the network cable plugged in....

I got it fixed anyway, in Control Panel > Passwords > User Profiles, select the top option.

It turned off the password prompt and I can now set my connect to the net thing bob remember my password and connect automatically.

I did the same thing Cobraboy and the prompt kept coming up. I removed it eventually.

But then my video card drivers screwed up - had to reinstall them.
