I'm having trouble entering my mate's lounge when trying to play GT5 online. I keep getting this error -

"Entry was refused due to network incompatibility with the room owner [771]".

Does anybody know how to resolve this? Online play is strange, we both joined someone else's server and all I could see was the host's car, my mate's car wasn't on the track. Is this normal?

His network type was NAT 2 with medium or normal bandwidth (I forgot). Mine is NAT 2 with high bandwidth.

Thanks in advance.

I too have been encountering this error when trying to access a private lounge of someone on my friends list.

I am NAT 2, have a <20ms ping on 20Mb fibre optic broadband. My PS3 is also in a DMZ on my wireless router.

I called Sony support last night as no amount of tinkering with my router settings has fixed the issue. The tech that i spoke to originally started trying to talk me through putting my PS3 into a DMZ until I told him it already was. He said that that would normally fix the issue as GT5 connects to random ports and putting the PS3 into DMZ takes port forwarding out of the equation.

It has now been raised to a 2nd line product specialist to have a look into.

I will update this thread once I have a response.

I don't remember the exact wording and can't access it since I'm at work. But, the GT5 in-game manual (section 9 I think) says there are two types of room connections in the game: Star and Mesh. Star is a fixed-host type and Mesh is, well, something I don't really understand yet. This could be related to your issue.

Yes, please keep this Thread UP TO DATE!!

I have the same problem and want to play online!!

Hopefully they will answer but it is 2 days ago now:(

I was having this same problem, until yesterday, don't know if this is what fixed it or not, but this is the only thing I changed. I went into network settings and noticed that UPnP was not enabled, so I enabled it. Since then I haven't had any problems connecting. Check your settings, if UPnP isn't enabled, enable it. Like I said, not sure if this is what fixed it for me, or if it was a coincidence.

Just had this, yesterday it was fine.

I fixed it: The game was running and I got disconnected from the router, I restarted the PS3 and it worked straight away.

This fixed my problem as well. Just a quick shutdown and reboot will set everything back to normal.

I've been playing most of the day on many different servers. However, tonight, the one I specifically want to get in gives me that error:

"Entry was refused due to network inompatibility with the room host.
[774]"

I know it's not my router as I just purchased the latest/greatest router for PC gaming from Cisco. (Recommended by lots of other gamers) My son and I have been gaming tons through it. Strange, maybe it's too "new"?

The wierd part is I am able to join nearly every other server.

Oh well. I hope they have a fix soon.

I've gotten both errors 771, and 774 at different times trying to join rooms. Having a NAT 3 connection, I thought that was the issue and wanted to try to get a NAT 2. So today I went through the whole port forwarding process, and when that didn't work I also tried the DMZ setup. Still no success, still NAT 3, and I do have UPnP enabled. The funny thing is, I have no problem with online bonus races or GT Academy, only joining peoples room in the open lobby, or joining my friends in their lounge. I've only been able to race online with my buddies once, and haven't been able to get it work since. I hope someone comes up with a solution.

Edit: Solved!
My issue came to light after finding this link: Bridged Ethernet Setup
Turns out that the modem my ISP (Bellsouth) had provided was acting as a dual modem/router which was conflicting with my acutal router resulting in "Double NAT'ing". After following that link and Bridging my modem, I am now NAT 2, all is well, and I have no connection issues.
