I have a DirecTV High-definition Hard Drive Recorder model HR20-700 (see below for specs). The eSATA connection on the back was just activated and I want to add an eternal hard drive that'll be much larger than the internal 300GB hard drive.
I want to connect the following items.
SATA VAULT with two 500GB Hard Drives via RAID O for a 1TB external hard drive connected to my DirecTV HR20-700.
Here are the specs:
SATA VAULT:
System Architecture
8032 ASIC RAID Microprocessor
2 channel SATA controller
NVRAM for RAID configuration & transaction log (WIN)

3.5" SATA or SATA II
hard drives
2 channel operation
2 hot-swap drive trays

Features
Features Cool operating temperature means longer service life and greater reliability. These drives are designed for cool running, even in severe operating environments.
Whisper quiet – With its WhisperDrive™ and SoftSeek™ technologies, WD has minimized noise to levels barely perceptible to the human ear in home and business environments.
NOTE: Look what one reviewer stated!
Pros: Huge and fast. Easy set up too.
Cons: None.
Other Thoughts: It seems like WD let some bad drives get out of the factories back in March. Mine has a date of Aug06 and it's fine. Also, this drive in not meant to be in a RAID array.
DirecTV HR20-700
