since no one responded in the top speed thread...and saw nothing about it in any other forms...i must ask

is it possible to do the wheelie trick that was possible in GT3 with the escudo and other 1000+HP cars now in GT4?

if so...please elaborate on how it's done

if i cant find my answer here...i know of no where else to search

In real life you can wheelie cars, however if it's a big wheelie like the Escudo in GT3 could do you need bars sticking out the back to prevent the car from flipping over. I'm not saying the wheelies in GT are realistic, just that cars with high power and the right rubber can do wheelies in real life.

Uh. Yeah, sure. A wheelie at 200+ miles an hour. There are *stunt cars* that do wheelies, and even some cars that *were designed* to do wheelies all the way down the 1/4 mile.

The GT racing series is just that. Racing. I think what you're looking for is Super Jesus Stunt Racer 5: Wheelies to God. :)

Re-read my post, where did I mention 200+ miles an hour. Some drag cars can wheelies. Like I said re-read my post and make a better reply, that one was so far off what I said I thought you were replying to a different post.

I never managed to do the wheelie tricks. However, for it being in GT3, if someone has 100% complete, and there is nothing left to do, why not screw around and do wheelies and stuff.

If someone who has the game (import or otherwise) can get an Escudo and use the same settings (roughly) that were used in GT3, and let us know, that would be great.

If no one does, I'll give it a rip once the 22nd rolls around and I get an Escudo. I need to know the settings for GT3 though.

Aerodynamics can cause a massive backflipping wheelie at speeds in excess of 200 MPH. If you were to tune out a car, just like in gran turismo 3, with horrible front downforce, tons of rear downforce and soft suspension, you better believe your going to be airborne. How is that bad simulation?

Its bad simulation when the car ... with the front wheels off the ground - accelerates to something like 700mph.

Wheelies have no place in Grand Turismo. You want wheelies? Go get a drag racing game - and even THEN they have technology to defeat it.

Wheelies should be possible, just not in the way you can do them on the test course. It's only a combination of power, grip and car settings that cause a wheelie. If your car does wheelie over a certain speed it would take off in real life and it should in the game, it shouldn't keep accelerating, as for drag cars I think your thinking of the top fule dragsters and thoes types of classes, many of the dragsters based on road cars don't have the aerodynamics at the front to hold it down, they just have to get the throttle spot on, some even wheelie off the line for fun.

Anyone else besides me are thinking about the infamous CLK-GTR flip at LeMans?

Back on topic, who would want to anyhow? It's not like it is very benneficial at racetracks where you actually have to turn.

It's not really doing a wheelie though ;)

this thread isnt about if wheelies shouldnt be in GT4 :grumpy:

would one of our overseas comrades be so kind as to find out if this wheelie trick is still possible?

meister_dan
I just saw a video on that on these threads.. Really nasty.
Fortunately, the only thing damaged in those accidents was the driver's pride.

And dan, I read your siganture. Pretty darn impressive ... but you can get full stats by playing GT2 on ALL languages - try going into Spanish and take a look at North City ...

If someone could actually answer the question now that'd be nice.
Are wheelies possible in GT4?
If so, which car(s) did you do the wheelie with?
Especially if they have one of those 10+ lap races at the test course or something, this would come in handy, and I wouldn't have the patience to care if I'm "cheating" or not.

Do you race?

That, and maybe the car...

I haven't been able to wheely anything yet, but I haven't tried extensively, and my settings were probably wrong.

was it not the case you had to have a specific setting to amke it wheelie, so it was a cheat
i.e unless you set everything to a specific number it would wheelie, even if you had like 98 downforce instead of 99 (juat an example)
?

You didn't ned exacty the same settings, it was the games physics that did it, I messed around with the gear ratios all the time to try and see just how fast I could get it.

Nice Earnhardt!

I was going to post the corvette pic, but I think your pics owned the person who said wheelies weren't true to real life, well enough :)

I think you can make cars wheelie in GT3 without hitting 2000+ km/h. I think that was just a bug with the physics when the car's back-end sunk through the track and you don't need an exact set of settings to make a car wheelie.

From all the inane ramble - I still can see that no-one has answered the question.

Someone with GT4 - get a stupidly powerful car, modify as appropriate, drive on test course and tell us whether it pulls a wheelie.

Thank you.... :banghead:

Well I've only got one memory card and can't afford to go buy something with 1000+ hp, but, I did give it a whirl with my 450ish hp RSC rally car, to no avail. I looked around arcade mode, and there's nothin in there with tons of hp, and you can't adjust the downforce or suspension anyway.

i have the cadillac cien right now stock at 760 bhp so maybe ill try it if i can get my hands on another mem card. the cien will get close to 1100 hp w/ NA and a supercharger but idk if you can do both
