GTPlanet, I wondered what had happened to American GT since the Grand American Road Racing Association (GARRA) ditched that series in favor of more closed-top race cars. I actually thought American GT was a good deal, of course it was ditched thanks to the Daytona Prototypes. The description about what this series is about is here:

True to America, I guess if you want to make a nice race car, it has to be a tube-frame machine. It's told that past competitors in the now defunct AGT class, Trans-Am race cars, and even SCCA GT-1 cars compete in this series. I love these machines. They are big, wide, and powerful. They really remind me of pure GTS race cars. While I would have liked functional doors and headlights, this is a nice deal. Imagine Camaros, Corvettes, Mustangs, a Jaguar XKR, and these sorts of cars racing. Think it will be big? I think so. I hope so. Reply now about these machines. And if you sense that they seem too much like Trans-Am cars, good observation.
