I should have waited until I had more time to put together a better first post for this thread but so be it. I'll amend later.

I saw on the new last night a new app called Everdrive (search your application store of choice) that analyzes your acceleration, braking, cornering, etc. and gives you scores based on how you drive.

And it let's you compete with friends for the best score. Hence the thread.

As I said, I'll expand later, likely including a list of users so we can see who's more frugal (and who isn't!) when it comes to driving.

Sounds amazing. Is it available on Android devices?

I don't know that I'd go with amazing. More entertaining. Maybe slightly insightful.

And yes, it's available for both Android and iStuff.

Summary of my last four trips:

On my trip from home to work this morning I got docked for speeding (I needed to merge and exit and a truck with a trailer merging from the other side had other ideas) and excessive acceleration from a stop light. On the plus side, my trip from work to home, driving like I usually do, netted me a 100%.

I'm going to have to give this a try. You know, when I'm out in a week, driving.

This sounds interesting.

Too bad I don't want to lug my iPad everywhere, and I don't have a Smartphone.

I'll give this a try.

Though I'll be honest, rather than aiming for the highest score, I'll probably be getting the lowest score.

I've downloaded since last Friday. Summary of my trips.

Apparently I suck at braking and cornering.

Don't have a screenshot, but I was averaging 2 stars every trip.

4 stars on Braking, Acceleration, and Cornering, 2 stars on Speeding, and 5 stars on Phone Distraction.

Every single time.

Acceleration is up to 95 with a 99.0 overall.

Ranked #2 out of 26 in Fargo and #8 out of 71 in NoDak.

I'm closing in. :mischievous:

I'm not quite sure how 500/5 equals 99.7, though. :boggled:

What metrics does it use to determine cornering? Does it encourage you to corner faster or slower? Faster is theoretically better for efficiency, slower is theoretically better for safety.

It favors slow. Which, yes, for fuel economy is worse but it should help with tire wear, especially on those cloverleaf entrances to the interstate.
