The question is GT5 performance wise.
And to the extent of what they can do

Fastest Curves? Fastest Straights? Do everything you can to defend your Evo

Enjoy the thread! And watch as Evo fans fight to the death! Lol

I don't know about in GT5, but IRL the X was two steps backwards. Bigger, heavier, weaker engine block, no 6 speed manual, more expensive, and arguably uglier.

Evo IX for life.

Weaker?that's a myth ...Four-Bolt Crank Cap(just like v-engines),two-structure ribbed oil pan,Ventilation Openings(remember porsche's race engine...) oil pan baffle plate,lighter and beefier rods,thicker crank pins....

In real life the X is faster around the track than the IX despite being overweight.

The X is awesome but I think I would pick an older model first.

4G powaaa!!! LOL

Is use several different EVOs depending on the track and PP.

For short tracks and/or low PP, I use the EVO VII RS. The VII RS is one of the lightest EVOs. My EVO weighes around 1050Kilos. This car has tons of mechincal grip and no AYC. On bumpy tracks, the light weight makes the car very unstable. I end up fighting the car just to stay in the racing line. The car tends to skip over the bumps under braking.

I use my EVO X or EVO VI on the ring. The cars extra weight helps to smooth out bumpy tracks, yet has the punch fly out turns. Both have AYC sent high turning potenial spins into 4whl power slides.

The EVO 1 only came about because of the GVR4. Without the success of this model, there would be no "evolution".

The 1/2/3 were all "the same". The gen 4's (as they were) had it's place, but it offers minimal benefits to the breed.

With the 5th gen, (4/5/6/6.5) some real changes began to happen. The EVO 4 switched the entire engine and transmission to the other side (opposite from the 4th gen) to help balance out the acceleration. The engine was obviously made to be a bit more powerful as the EVO 4 was the first evo to REALLY make the Japanese limited 276.

The EVO 5 added the first widebody, and adjustable downforce, better cooling etc. and the motor became much more bullet proof. With that, the EVO V was IMO, the last EVO bred for racing. It had enough, but not too much of the fancy stuff to keep the regular buyer interested, and the racers happy.

The E6 though was so good, that they added a 6.5TME or Tommi Makinen Edition. I never really cared for either of these personally... though I'm biased after building my EVO 5.

With the 6th Gen (7/8/9) there was no question mitsu screwed up the EVO 7. TO make up for this disgusting car, they FINALLY added the E8 to the sales docket in the US. The 8 therefore makes a strong case... as it was truly the first "global" EVO. But because of this, some feel it was detuned just a little too much to meet regulations globally.

Enter the EVO IX. This is the car. The bombproof engine, the incredible aerodynamics, the widebody engineering in the suspension, the SICK power, and all of the excellent gizmos. ALL very well engineered into a package that ONCE had the face of the EVO 7!

For the 7th gen (10) they changed the engine. Yes, the 4G63 is getting on in years. Yes, I'm sure the technology is better now... but if Mitsu had been planning on canceling the Evolution line, why bother swapping the engine to a 4B11T? Is the EVO X better than the IX? Probably, but in the eyes of the true EVO fan there's just no way. In my head, the X represents everything bad about cars of the future. You could put a 3 year old in the cockpit of the E10 and watch them win the WRC in 1995. The same goes for cars like the GTR. The cars are "that good" because they take the moron average joe (read: us) out from behind the wheel. This allows us to believe the cars are faster, when really they're simply covering our mistakes.

The tl;dr version is... EVO IX. 4G63T is a god motor. Though I am partial to the CP9A chassis and the CN9A chassis.

So, 4/5/9.

For me the IX, largely down to styling (as below) and it was the last great Evo to me also. To be more specific to GT5 though, I prefer the IX tuned but not RM at the moment I have it set up more aggressively meaning there's more to do behind the wheel and of course it is a true road rocket once you pump out 500+bhp which similar cures the ease of use which makes the stock Evos a little boring for me personally in the game. It may be possible to make the X faster (it's probably not hard to make my IX faster as I am currently running the LSD rather than AYC which I need to test to see if it's better), and it's certainly possible with the RM, but as it stands my greatest success in terms of pure handling though not necessarily lap times is with my IX.

The 1/2/3 were all "the same".
There's lots of change for each evolution from its predecessor
Example the Evo 2 vs Evo 1:Evo 2 got a wider track ,longer wheelbase, different height, bigger tires, deeper wheelarches, oil cooler was adopted, different first and second gear,3rd and 4th got double-cone syncro,1.5 way rear lsd, torsional rigidity increase by 30%....and much more(I'm not gonna write them all )

The galant was an amazing rally car but they needed a lighter car...

I love this kind of car :dopey:

Right... but I was meaning significant changes. Makinen obviously had his way with the early evos...

You're right...I just wanted to say that they improve the car(change a lot of parts) but Its true they didn't change the whole thing...Your post is alright 👍
