Today, my friend came over my place to do an endurance race. We planned to take shifts at the long endurances so he came here to get used the new gameplay GT4 offers over GT3 đź‘Ť . It was one of the first time he plays for real.
We choose a short endurance, but we wanted a challenge so I took my Amuse S000 R1 "stock" to this race. It had 259BHP and 626km run. I don't remember applying WR1 to it, but anyway we put 100kg ballast to compensate for that, ending with 1119kg. đź’ˇ
We were running against a Lotus Motorsport Elise '99, TVR T350C '03, TVR Cerbera Speed Six '97, Mercedes SL65 AMG '04 and Shelby Series 1 Super Charged. Besides all the cars were alot more powerful than us :nervous: , it was clear the Lotus would be the man to beat.
He took the first stint. On the 4 starting laps he spun twice, but was in range of the other cars, besides the Elise opening a real gap ahead. The he started to get better, but even with the Elise pitting at lap 12 he couldn't catch it! :ouch: So it was lap 20 and time to pit, the tyres were orange at last..(this car is really easy on tyres!). Until this point the best lap was 1'57.660, 3rd overall. :ill:
Then my turn. I don't remember the gap, but I had to give it all only to cut that lead by a few seconds :guilty: ! My best lap here was 1.54.9xx, but running at .55 and 56 mostly. I tried my best and handed to him at lap 41. My head was working hot to figure a way, but this is racing and doing our best wasn't good enough!
He started to run and I made some math. The Elise would need to pit again 2 times (it had already pitted 3 times) and we would need to pit once around lap 58-60. The car is really grippy but on orange tyres oversteer was winning.
So I told him to pit when the tyres were about to become orange, and it was lap 55, yellow tyes :P. We would have to pit again anyway..
Bad, I had 10 laps to cut a lead of 49 seconds and the Elise had just done it last pit  . So he was on cold tyres, I managed a great sequence of faster laps (best one 1'53.951 :) ) and cut his lead to around 29 seconds. Not SO bad.
Then something odd started to happen. I was gaining 1 or 2 seconds per lap on the Elise! 4 laps to finish and his lead was 13 seconds!! With my best efforts I managed to get close and...wow... he was going off course every time at the section between T1 and T2 :dunce: . At lap 65 I was on his neck!
We begun the last lap with a lead 1 second and he was coming fast on the straight! :scared: He had cornering speeds that rivals the best of our Honda and the only hope was hold him until T2, wishing his mistake open some breathing room. My heart was beating faster then the VTEC 9000rpm engine of our AMUSE! :nervous:
We wasn't sure of the win until the last sweeping corner, finishing with a lead of almost 4 seconds thanks to the AMG sandwitched between us, slowing him down! :dopey:
A great finish to a (almost) lost race!! Another 250.000 cr and another Minolta on the garage and we are ready to take on another, bigger, badder, harder, longer enduro! Now he's better used to GT4, we can do better. His times improved an overall of 6 seconds from start to finish đź’ˇ . Thats great! đź‘Ť

Total time: 2'11.04, 200 A-Spec points. Fastest lap was 1'53.951.
Hope you enjoyed the reading! See ya...

ps. just looked at the data from my last (and also 1st) race here win an NSX-R Concept. Did 1'51.8 best lap and total time of 2'09.08. But that car had WR1, Racing Chip on S2 with 301BHP and REALLY shortened gear ratios to fit this track. The S2000 is really the cornering machine from Japan!

I didn't looked at the replay after the race, but im 99% sure that didn't happened until after his last pitstop, because even with the fastest laps we were doing, no more than 1 second was cut of his lead.
The TVR, in other hand was hitting the bridge every lap. Had a few laughs from that one :dopey: Another odd thing is that only the AMG was lapped in the race. And twice :dunce:

By seeing my friend improve so much so quick, in one race only, I had a đź’ˇ . Soon i'll be doing the 'ring 4hr enduro! That track is making me :nervous: !

Great report! The Nurb is a toughie, though the competition is more inclined to spin itself out of contention there. Lovely track to do two up though.

Keep them coming. đź‘Ť

Good Report. You are very lucky, when my best mate comes over, he drinks my beer, then gets my Z06 Vette out of the garage, drives to the nearest tunnel, parks up, turns up the bass bin on the surround sound & sits there idling and blipping the throttle with a daft grin on his daft face.
I gotta get him organised to help me do an endurance.

It could possibly be that they switched tires mid-race, from softs to mediums (or something similar).
