Executing a successful pit stop

Would someone please help me and explain how to perform a good pit stop? I would like to participate in some of the daily C races but get stuck on the pit stop, if so required.
I get how to change tires, my issue is when it comes time to refuel. How do I do it? What buttons am I to push? I can see at the top of the screen “fuel or refuel” (something like that) but don’t understand how to scroll over and begin.
I am using a Thrustmaster T80RS wheel.
Sorry for the dumb question everyone, but I need to know.
Thank you in advance to all those who may be able to assist.

It should refuel automatically after the tyres are changed... you just have to wait and make sure you don't hit the button that says DO NOT REFUEL

And the thing you see that says TYRES > FUEL is a timeline of your pitstop, so it will highlight TYRES when the tyres are being changed then will move to FUEL when the fuel is being done. The pitstop will finish automatically either when you press STOP REFUELLING or your tank is full.

Wow, that simple huh? Thanks Robben. I will give that a try and practice it.
I feel very dumb at the moment, but now I know.

👍

Set up a custom race with max fuel depletion so you can have a practice before getting into a race :)

Edit: Obviously the key is to stop your refuelling as soon as you have enough fuel to cover the remaining laps (which it does tell you on the fuel bar)

Make sure to go into the pits on fuel map 1, otherwise I think the fuel laps indicator will be for the fuel map you are currently on.
I was wondering about that... I presumed it does display the remaining laps based in current fuel map but does anyone know for sure?

Don't forget to watch how many laps remaining and stop at that point you need when refueling, I know some people still let it go to full and they lose a lot of time and positions doing that. I've had only one race where miscalculated the refueling and I ran out of fuel before the finish line and luckily the counter ran down since the race leader was so far ahead.

I also don’t understand that function, fuel map and how to change/manipulate / lower / increase consumption. Can you walk me through that please?

Question here - this happened twice to me. I was on fuel map 1, pitted and I had 4 laps left. I made sure I had enough for "4" laps, but ended up running out of fuel before the last 2 turns and limped along to the finish line while being passed. Is the fuel computer not accurate? My driving remained the same.

Make sure you practise the pit entry as well as some are tricky.

Bathurst, Brands Hatch and Nurburgring GP all require heavy braking otherwise you will hit walls or spin. Not that I did that at Bathurst yesterday or anything. No way did I end up facing the wrong way about 5 metres short of the entry line.

Use the left and right buttons on the D pad to cycle through the menu on the bottom right when in a race, so you have Radar, TCS setting, Brake Bias etc... then use up and down arrows to adjust fuel map. It will only appear on races in which fuel consumption is active (so Daily C or a custom race)

The lower the number, less fuel you use and also less power. So you can do more laps with the same amount of fuel but the car is slower.
Max number (6) means you use full power but the fuel will run dry faster aka less laps.
If you want to save fuel the best way is by early shifting/throttle control and draft first and then use the "fuel map".

1 is full power and 6 is lean :)

Yea my mistake.
Yet I think its better to "save" fuel yourself rather letting the "map" doing it for you.Yesterday I was doing than in the Mountain with settings on 1 and not pitting that gave me better results than using 2 (in order not to pit),trying to beat people that were 2 or more sec faster than me in pure race pace (or Q times).

If it's 4 laps left, I usually let it go to 4.3 or 4.7 or whatever the fuel meter goes to while refueling, it only takes an extra fraction of a second to reach that. A couple things plays into this, hitting the RPM max often can drink more fuel (short shifting near the end of the race helps) and worn tires can take more fuel too.

Ah....got it. Thanks

That's funny, I actually do the opposite and stop fueling at 3.8-3.9 if there's 4 laps left. It's easier to short shift and just change the fuel map on the last half lap of the race if I am not going to make it

But to each their own I guess

I thought it was calculated based on your average consumption, not the maps. Not sure...
It always seems to calculate it for me based on the fuel map i enter the pit with. i think its just an extension of the fuel remaining lap counter thats on your HUD

I think it's done like that as well. I've almost been caught out going from fuel map 6 in one stint to fuel map 1 on the next and it overestimating how many laps I can do if I remain on fuel map 1.

Always good to do some...

...in your head to be sure!

Lol... I just ran out off gas on a 10 lapper. Change your tires and make sure you have enough gas. You have to select the tires change, it usually gives you the best option first, then make sure you get enough gas to finish. My mistake was seeing lap 7 and thinking I had 3 laps to go....NO it's 4 laps to go. Sometimes you can go further by using the gas map to conserve fuel and traction control to save tires. But really you have to drive fast and hard to win or move up in position. Have fun.!
