A New York man took his luxury sedan to a local carwash only to have it trashed by an unlicensed driver who confused the accelerator and the brake.

The owner of the 2009 Lexus IS250, known only as Mike, dropped his car off at the carwash in Queens to be washed but got back a wreck instead.

After the car was washed, the unlicensed worker hopped behind the wheel and slammed on the accelerator, sending the car flying out of the workshop and into the street.

The car lurched from the shop and across four lanes of traffic before smashing through the small gap between two parked cars and into a bush on the other side of the road.

The entire episode was captured by a dashcam mounted on the luxury vehicle.

After the carnage the Lexus came to the abrupt stop with alarms blaring and progrock band Yes' "Owner of a Lonely Heart" playing on the radio.

Mike told the motoring website Jalopnik how he was less than impressed with the carwash owner's response when he asked for an explanation.

"(When) I approached the owner of the car wash asking why he just shrugged it off with: 'Well we have to work with what is available at the moment,'" Mike recalled.

"Ugh I wanted to punch him."

The Lexus was left with a pristine and shining finish, minus the massive damage to the body work.

The video of the wreck titled "Full Service Car Wash (wait for it)" was uploaded to YouTube on Sunday.

If this happened to me and the owner said that.
I would sue him to bankruptcy

Have to work with what you got?
So getting a qualified driver to move a car is some thing they don't have

Blame it on the floor mat...

Seriously? Some people... I understand there isn't that much space around in New York to hand wash your car, but to let someone else sit and drive in it?

Nooooo... Not for me. Turtlewax and three five gallon buckets are fine for me.. Never had anything wrong with that system. In fact, I've never been in a car wash before, and don't plan too..

When i was my car it takes me the whole day.

XD

I take it quite seriously.

And that is just for the body, the wheels and glass need doing as well.

Poor name if you ask anyone...

  • The name of Mike has given you a very imaginative, creative mind.
  • You always have new ideas, but too often they are for an easy way out of a difficulty, or an easy way of making money.
  • You are not inclined to apply yourself consistently to a job and to reach the fulfilment of your goals through perseverance and hard work.
  • The influence of this name has caused you to feel unsettled emotionally and mentally.
  • You are never satisfied with conditions, because your feelings and desires are so changeable.
  • Hence you seek change in order to have the opportunity for travel, new experiences, and new friends and associates.
  • There are people in your association who could influence you unfavourably and thereby mislead you; disillusionment, embarrassment, and bitter experiences then become your lot.
  • You have a very talkative nature and because of it, you could do well in saleswork or in a position where you handle the public.
  • However, you would find any position requiring self-confidence and aggressiveness very trying.
  • You are subject to moods of depression and self-pity, arising in part from a lack of confidence.
  • Nervous tension often affects your solar plexus and stomach area.
  • Also, the kidneys and fluid functions of the body could be affected.

I would never take a car of any value to be washed at a car wash either by people or a machine.

Maybe if it was a mobile valeting service which came to your drive that's OK but I much prefer to do it myself. Takes me about 2 days to totally do my car properly inside and out.

Also what kinda person doesn't know their accelerator and brake pedals? It's as basic as a knife and fork even if you don't drive.... and why continue pressing the WRONG one!
