experiencing a little bit of screen tearing - question

hey guys!

ive been readin this forum for quite a while but ive never actually registered and posted here but i finally decided to join.

i decided to ask the question on this forum because i know most of the people here actually own the game, and its not crowded with fanboys like many other forums are.

ive been searching the net for other people noticeing these framerate/screen tearing issues to my suprise i didnt find alot of complaints about it, only thing i found was an ign review that said it had some slight problems but i kinda took that as a biased article. all the other reviewers praised the game for having such a flawless 60frames per secound.

so I started to worry about if its my ps3 that could be underperforming. I mean its not like its bugging me while im trying to break my speed records but if i look for it, for example on challanges in the A-spec with 16cars beat-em-all, the screen tearing/framedrop sure is there. worth metioning is that this ONLY occours in specific turns when all cars are gathered like in the beginning of a race on the Fuji track, i never see any screentear/framedrops when driving straight no matter how many cars in sight

so i guess my question to you guys are, do I have a faulty ps3? could a fauly ps3 cause underperformance like a bit of screen tearing/framedrop? again its NOT much, most of my friends dosnt notice it if i do not point it out to them but the thought of having a faulty ps3 is really bugging me so i really hope you guys could help me out and tell me weather you have experienced the same thing as me! =)

It happens, its not a huge frame drop, it dips briefly in some situations which causes the tears (there is a frame counter video about it). Your PS3 is not faulty. Many people never even notice.

Thanks alot Jay, that was just the answer i was hoping to hear! I can now continue playin this great game without having to worry about having a faulty ps3 :D

hopefully this thread might be usefull to someone else wondering the same thing as i do.

I experience this also, it's ''normal'' i guess for all users. I eem to notice it most in the slow tight bends of eiger where there are lots of bunched cars and the camera pans quickly due to the tight bends.

Mines pretty new (under 1 year) and I get it when all the cars are in sight and going through a first turn or something, but thats not too often.

I am not sure if also the TV you are using might be at fault? Some people say some TV are not designed for gaming, some HD TVs even have GAME options to turn on and off. I really do not know if this is true or not, but might be a good research...

Also about IGN writing 60fps flawless..
Look at this video.. almost Flawless. Sure its almost always 60FPS @1080p very impressive, but from time to time it has some screen tear. Even tho, no other racing game on console can compare.
