Hey everyone, I've just joined the forum and I can't wait to nerd on about GT5p with all of you :)
Unfortunately my first post is going to be a gripe....It involves the Renault Clio sport and how ridiculously dominant it seems to be on Expert 650 Fuji.
I used it for the first time today, I wanted to see if it was just me who was genuinely slow in my Ferrari F430 '06 or was it a distinct car advantage the Clio users have with that car.
My best time with the F 430 in this race with R2 tyres is 1.44.2** which relative to a lot of cars (besides the Clio) keeps me nice and competitive usually. Against the Clio I get nailed more often than not....much more often than not lol.
My best time in the Clio is a 143.208 or there abouts. A whopping second faster. AND given how insanely stable (and boring imo) the car is, you can lap 10 laps within a tenth of a second of your best.
This to me is killing the expert 650pp Fuji event because it forces you to either A) accept you probably won't win if there is a bunch of Clios in the race or B) drive the Clio with everyone else to remain front end competitive.

Both options dont appeal to me. I really feel the PP balancing needs to be tweaked again.

Or is it just a case of this car being that amazing in real life and this is a mere reflection of that sooooper awesomeness?
Any thoughts?
Cheers everyone.👍

Hello NoTC, I've just joined too and my first post was a gripe lol, but the people on this forum seem very nice, so I wouldn't worry too much. (Thats my brown nosing done for the day lol). To answer your question, the Clio shouldn't dominate as much as it doe's, and I agree PD should look at sorting the PP system out again. In real life, the Mk I Clio V6 has a reputation for an unstable rear end, and its dogged by a horrible driving position. But, it doe's have amazing traction out of corners and off the line, which GT5P recreates very well imo.

i dont understand why cars have set pp and run such different times. always seems to be a fast car on the popular races.

I was just running a mid 600pp clio/tuned on Eiger (arcade mode) and I can turn the Ai up to the mid-high 90's and destroy the competition. The car has sooooo much traction on entry and exit. I find that the tail end on both versions is very prone to oversteer mid corner like the real car. Maybe it is worse in real life. I know on the old Clio it was horrendous.

Every car must be equal at the same PP. A ford GT at 650pp in pro events gets creamed by a gtr at the same level in the same race. They should fix that.

I've been running the 650 Fuji Pro since the event change this month. I drive the Evo X/tuned. I've tried several cars with tunes found on this forum (because I pretty much suck at tuning myself) including the Clio but seem to do the best with the Evo X. Don't know if my driving style is suited to the Evo X because I was driving the Clio on the 550 Suzuka and doing pretty well.

My best lap time is 1:44:xxx with a best overall time of 17.36.xxx. There are a few people and/or a few cars that just seem to kick my butt. Some of them are Clios but there are others as well.

I'm not saying the Clios don't dominate, but it seems more like better driving most of the time. The more I practice the better my overall time seems to improve or at least the more consistent I become.

Most of my time on the forums are spent trying to find better tunes and driving tips on how to better go into corners, drive corners and come out of corners to improve my time. Any suggestions in these areas is always appreciated.

Maybe I'm just a newb, but I think bringing a little more skill and practice to the track and I could knock of another second and be pretty competitive with about any cars and at least do better against the good drivers.

Sorry about the novel. See you at Fuji. Happy racing!

I looked into having a race earlier, I took out my Audi R8, mainly so I could have a play aswell. I was up against a Clio V6 tuned, Ferrari 512, a Dodge Viper SRT-10, Ford GT LM and a GT 350Z tuned. Basically, the GT LM and 350Z quit after the first lap, simply because they ended up out braking themselves into the gravel at turn one. I was off the line 2nd, and swiftly overtook the Clio... the 512 and Viper were left to fight it out and after 4 laps were around 10 seconds behind us. By the end of lap 4, the Clio driver started to pull away at a steady half-second a lap, so he was doing pretty well imo. And then, to my utter amazement, the 512 started to catch me, at nearly 2.5 seconds a lap! He was seriously on it, all credit to the Viper driver for not quiting. Anyway, the 512 overtook me on the straight on lap 8, I didn't fight too much and let him go around the outside on turn 1. I looked on is disbeleif as he caught and passed the Clio, finishing 3 seconds clear of us both. Very impressive, and I sent him a message saying how impressed i was.

There are so many pluses with the Clio. The fact that its so light and it has massive amounts of acceleration it just doesn’t make it worth while to chose a another car, but I love my 350Z if I could just have more power to compensate for the weight I’d be more then competitive.

I must add if they created this race to be sort of like a club class and everybody is in Clio’s it is very entertaining.

And who was driving this Ferrari classic?

Morning guys,
Well I figure maybe I need to learn to shave that second off my time using the F430. I really enjoy using this car for the challange, I guess I'm just gettin a little frustrated that I haven't managed to find an answer to the Clios with it yet. I'll give it another try this evening.
Cheers everyone.

There is a guy with "Failing Finn" in his tag who ran circles around me (not that that is any great feat) in a 512BB on Daytona Road the other day.

I'll have to get his tag off the PS3, so i'll post it up later when I get home.
