I have a lot of questions I'm hoping can be answered. I'm not new to GT4 but there's always been a large gray area for me that I never really got my feet wet and this is where the stem of my questions come from. I haven't visited the forums in a while because I haven't played the game in ages but while trying to get past 99.6% complete and in my quest to get all gold in the licences I wanted to get some answers and opinions from you guys. Here we go:

1) Starting from a stand still is it quickest to have the gas fully pressed before you see Start, is it best to wait until you see Start to hit the gas or will it vary car to car?

2) Why does the Nissan Option Stream Z start off like a turtle before it blazes through high speeds? If it didn't take something in the range of 15 seconds for 0-400m it might actually stand a chance against some pretty good cars. Is there some kind of modification that fixes this first gear dilemma or is it something I have to live with?

3) Is adding a spoiler a good idea for all cars that can have a spoiler added to it in the GT Auto section? I may have done this once on either a used RX-7 or Supra but I can't remember if there was a performance advantage. Is it a good idea to modify it once installed? I really know very little about how to properly modify the spoiler.

4) Considering my tuning knowledge is somewhat limited and mainly consists of upgrades such as tires, HP upgrades, weight reduction, adding brakes but not customizing them, Transmission: Full customize, Flywheel: Racing, Clutch: Triple plate and changing the Auto setting from Sport to Wide I'm curious when I buy or acquire cars and I install Suspension: Full customize but I don't customize it myself is it a waste of money or is it offering a better advantage over Semi-racing Suspension or no suspension at all. Sometimes I install full suspension but I don't know how to properly modify it and maybe I'm just wasting my time and money getting it. Thoughts? I just read that Suspension guide but I can't really follow it, and it'll be a pain if I have to run back and forth from my living room to my computer room for each car I plan on modifying.

5)Should I lower the ride height of all my cars? Will this provide a performance increase in things like 0-400/1000 and top speed or will it only help in technical courses for acceleration and deceleration?

6) After how many miles should you use that feature in weight reduction to restore the car to its original shape? It mentions in the description that installing this could also be problematic; how so?

7) Does Flywheel: Racing, Clutch: Triple plate and Suspension: Full customize, NOS tank affect the amount of A-spec points you get in a race? Also is there any reason not to reduce the weight of a car besides losing out on A spec points?

8) When given the option of NA tuning and Turbo on a car which should you choose and why? By reading the descriptions it seems Turbo's are good for courses with long straight-away's and aren't very good in low RPM or on/off accelerator; a supercharger is good for technical courses but not for things like Test Course and I'm not following NA?

9) Is there any reason to or not to install Racing brakes, Brake controller, limited slip if I don't plan on altering them once installed or even if I don't modify it myself it'll still provide an advantage in races?

10) Soft Sport tires have as much grip as which Racing tire?

I love Turismo and how there are so many cars, customizable options, tracks etc but not being a car buff myself and the fact that some of the explanations for parts in the game is either chinese to me or a little over my head it does make it irritating when you want the best possible performance from your cars.

Thank you for any help.

1. It depends. A four wheel drive car can probably handle full throttle right from the beginning but FF, FR and MR ones will likely suffer from wheelspin.

2. It has unbelievable turbo lag thanks to the turbo sized similarly to a water bucket. The turbo just doesn't get spooled up at low revs.

3. It is. It ruins the looks in many cases but the advantage you gain from the downforce will give you much faster lap times. More downforce = more grip in corners, less downforce = more straight line speed.

4. I always get the FC Suspension as it has the best range of adjustments. Just experiment with the settings, changing one thing at the time and trying out the car between setting changes. You'll eventually get the hang of it.

5. The lowest isn't the best like many people think. It increases stability but it also increases understeer and the tendency to bottom out. Experiment with it too.

6. Rigidity Refresh is the one you want to use for an old car, Rigidisy Increase (rollcage) is the one you don't want to use for any car. It will most likely increase understeer and whatever you do, do not fit it unless the car is brand new or has just had the Rigidity Refresh done. Otherwise you'll get a car locked in a half worn state. Not good.

7. None of those affect the points. Lighter is always better, the only reason to not to lighten the car would be just the points hunting.

8. NA gives the best engine response but often the lowest power figures, Turbo gives the power on high revs but decreases it on low revs and often the highest power figures, Supercharger gives tons of low range power but the engine will run out of steam in high revs. Choose from those depending on your needs.

9. Every car can benefit from the brake set and most also benefit from the LSD, excluding cars that have sophisticated systems as stock, Skylines being the best known examples of this. Fitting the LSD will outright cripple them.

10. SS tyres can't match any R class tyres but the R1 is the one that comes the closest.

Keep playing the game, you'll learn on the way. :)

1) Starting from a stand still is it quickest to have the gas fully pressed before you see Start, is it best to wait until you see Start to hit the gas or will it vary car to car?

Varies - several licence tests demonstrate this

2) Why does the Nissan Option Stream Z start off like a turtle before it blazes through high speeds?

Turbo lag probably

3) Is adding a spoiler a good idea for all cars that can have a spoiler added to it in the GT Auto section?

Wing will increase downforce and therefore cornering ability

4) I install Suspension: Full customize but I don't customize it myself is it a waste of money

Not sure, I think handling will be improved

5)Should I lower the ride height of all my cars?

No

Will this provide a performance increase in things like 0-400/1000 and top speed

Probably not

or will it only help in technical courses for acceleration and deceleration?

Improves handing by lowering the centre of gravity, it can also move the centre front to back or back to front. Some downforce can be had by lowering the front more than the back. Be carefull on bumpy courses as the car may bottom out making it more difficult to control.

6) After how many miles should you use that feature in weight reduction to restore the car to its original shape?

Chassis refresh should be done after 500-1000 km. Ensure you do not increase ridgidity on a worn car before the chassis refresh.

7) Does Flywheel: Racing, Clutch: Triple plate and Suspension: Full customize, NOS tank affect the amount of A-spec points you get in a race?

No

Also is there any reason not to reduce the weight of a car besides losing out on A spec points?

No, except that it cannot be reversed

8) When given the option of NA tuning and Turbo on a car which should you choose and why? By reading the descriptions it seems Turbo's are good for courses with long straight-away's and aren't very good in low RPM or on/off accelerator; a supercharger is good for technical courses but not for things like Test Course and I'm not following NA?

Don't know - there are probably some very long and detailed threads on this - find them

9) Is there any reason to or not to install Racing brakes, Brake controller, limited slip if I don't plan on altering them once installed or even if I don't modify it myself it'll still provide an advantage in races?

Don't know - I usually install brakes but rarely the balance controller or LSD. There are significant handling benefits to be had from both of these but you need to know what you are doing - I don't.

10) Soft Sport tires have as much grip as which Racing tire?

I would have thought RSH had more grip than SS tyres

1. It depends on the car and also on your TCS setting. To see the most dramatic effect of TCS, look at license tests IB-6 and IB-7. Same identical car, same identical task, except TCS (and ASM) are on in IB-6 and off in IB-7. You can floor it at the start of the countdown in IB-6, you must feather the throttle in IB-7.

2. Massive turbo lag, as mentioned previously.

3. If a spoiler is available, it'll help cornering. However, when purchased, the downforce is set to 0/0. In other words, it's not having any effect at all. Change it in the settings screen, maximizing it isn't always ideal but it's never too far off.

4. See Greycap's answer.

5. Lowering the ride height lowers the center of gravity. This in turn reduces weight transfer, so the car will corner faster. However, since you have less weight transferred to the front on turn-in, the car will tend to understeer on corner entry. For 0-400 and 0-1000 you most likely want to raise the car to get more weight transfer to the rear wheels, increasing traction. Personally I end up lowering most cars to some extent. Just to make things more complicated, you can lower the car more for some tracks than for others.

6. If the rigidity refresh option is unchecked, buy it. Mileage at which it's required varies from car to car, the range seems to be about every 200 to 600 miles.

7. The only things that affect A-spec points are horsepower, weight, tires and downforce.

8. See Greycap.

9. Scaff's measurements show no effect at all from racing brakes except on soft racing tires, and even then it's miniscule. I always buy them anyway. If you're not going to adjust the controller there's probably no point in buying it, but I pretty much always add a little front bias.

10. See Greycap's and Moloch_horridus's answers.

There are exceptions to most every general guideline. Test, test, then test again.

I rarely use the brake balance controller (I'm a little TOO used to budget constraints) and it can cripple a car's stopping prowess when set up wrong.

I also have to disagree on the weight reduc thing (At least Moloch's perspective). It can be reversed on almost all cars (exceptions being cars that weigh a good bit), as max ballast IS 200kg.

1) Generally speaking, it's best to feather it in 2WD. In AWDs you can pretty much floor it.

2) Turbo Lag. It's made for high speed over a long distance, not standing starts.

3) Yes, if you want better race handling.

4) Full suspension isn't necessarily better for road cars unless you tune it. Sports suspension can give good results on balanced cars.

5) Mostly helps with cornering, although not as helpful in GT4 as you might think.

6) Restoring the car is never problematic, and you should apply it when the checkbox is unchecked. However, do NOT install stiffening while the restoration box is unchecked (this is probably what you mean by problematic).

7) No. Not really, you can add ballast if for some reason you feel the car gets too light.

8) Generally, turbos give more power and torque at the cost of lag. NA tuning makes the engine more powerful but mostly in the upper RPM range. Superchargers seem like the best allround option when available.

9) Not if you don't feel you need them. Racing brakes have little effect, but LSD can "tighten up" a loose/sloppy car. If you don't plan on changing the effect, I suggest a 1.5 way for RWD, and 1 way for FWD/AWD.

10) None. Even the hardest racing tires grip far better.

I agree that it ruins the look in most cases. Once purchased can it be removed? Or if I'm doing a speed test should I just set the downforce to 0/0 and increase it when I race a technical circuit?

When you suggest adding a 1.5 LSD for RWD and 1 way LSD for FWD/AWD is that only for a loose/sloppy car or any car that I want better perfomance with without having to physically tune/modify myself?

Is there a list where I can find out all cars that can have a Supercharger installed for GT4?

I'm still unclear with Rigidity Refresher Plan, should I never use this feature or is it just never do it before the other option?

I would like to thank everyone who responded .

The wing can be removed, just go to the wing shop and select "Return the car to original state".

Fitting a preset LSD for a car that is already reluctant to turn will only make it harder to turn, if you want to make it turn better you should go for the FC one.

Unfortunately no list about the superchargable cars that I know of, but one thing is for sure: not a single turbo car can take one.

Always use the Rigidity Refresher Plan (the one with the "recycle arrows") if possible, it will make the worn chassis new again. The one you should be careful with is the Rigidity Increase (the rollcage), it probably won't do any harm if you never use it. If you do though, make sure the chassis has been freshly refreshed.

Thanks Greycap. I used the Rigidity Refresher Plan on my Lotus V8 GT and I installed a spoiler and changed the downforce to 15 (option was 0 to 30) for both the front and rear but when I went into Like the Wind it was **** in the turn so I'll need to fool around with it to get a feel for it before I try a more technical course.
If I have any further questions I'll reply later.

I must be blind but I went into the Aston Martin dealer and never noticed the V8 Vantage yet it is in the game. I went through the NA prize car list and never noticed it there nor did I notice it in the NA used car list. How do I obtain this vehicle as I want it badly?
Thanks and sorry if the answer is obvious or easy.

You should have gone through the Game Guides too... you would have learned that it can be bought in the Late 90's Used Cars lot every now and then. 👍
