Ok so I've heard alot of people say alot of different things about engine break-in in GT5
Now not only have I answered it for myself I hope all of you with doubts and all of you with "OCD" will read this because it took me 1,000 miles of A-spec milage to find out
So here goes...
I bought 4 identical Nissan GT-R Spec V '09's in different colours (to help me)
And here is what I did with them
I left each car completly standard (no mods, body kits or tyres)
then ...
I drove each of these cars for 250 miles, I did oil changes on 2 but not the other2 and drove them in different manners
2 cars where thrashed (bouncing of rev limiter, changing down early etc)
Then took the other 2 (1 thrashed,1 gentle) straight to the track
2 where driven gentle (as you would with a real new car, not exeeding 4000rpm etc)
After each car had done 250 miles I changed the oil and here are the results...
(white GT-R) oil change + thrashed
start BHP - 502
after 250 miles BHP- 493
after oil change BHP- 517
(black GT-R) no oil change + thrashed
start BHP - 478
after 250 miles BHP- 493
after oil change BHP- 517
(grey GT-R) oil change + gentle
start BHP - 502
after 250 miles BHP- 493
after oil change BHP- 517
(red GT-R) no oil change + gentle
start BHP - 478
after 250 miles BHP- 493
after oil change BHP- 517
So there you go, changing your oil before driving gives you an initial boost but after break-in and its "first service" there is no difference
And the way you treat your new ride during that break-in duration has no effect on the cars "power gain"
I also choose the GT-R because it is to my understanding that these enginges are hand built and no 2 cars will ever have the same BHP so if PD where to get really ANAL about this sort of thing surley this would have been the car they would have done it with ?
Hope this helps
