F.E.A.R SP Demo Review
By: MachOne
Name: F.E.A.R (First Encounter Assault Recon)
Creator:Sierra Entertainment Inc.
ESRB Rating: 17+ Mature
Preview:
F.E.A.R Was expected to be one of the greatest games of it's time. It was rumored to contain the most demanding graphics, the gruesomest gore, and scariest story mode ever. Does it actually live up to these rumors? F.E.A.R, without a doubt, demands a highly advanced system running at least 512 MB of RAM and a very decent graphics card. If you still want to learn more, keep reading.
Gameplay:

What is a game without gameplay? The single player demo is somewhat dull, but "go change your pants" scary, nonetheless. The controls take a while to get used to, but you will catch on fast. I use an eDimensional AudioFX Headset and I almost shat myself when I started playing. This game is by far the scariest I have played, and it's only a demo! I could hardly finish the game without screaming. I definetly suggest heeding the ESRB rating and not playing this if you scare easily. You won't enjoy it. The multiplayer is most likely less scary than the story mode, and is probably the replay value part of the game. But, this is the Single Player demo of course, so no multiplayer review.

You show me a better looking game than F.E.A.R and I'll show you somebody who hasn't ran F.E.A.R on High settings. This game is a jaw-dropper for graphics. I, using my Radeon 9550, can't run it on high, but I know somebody that can. I strolled over to their house for a quick play at F.E.A.R on all High settings and I can only say wow. This game is the pinnacle of graphic demand. Anything less than a NVidia 7800 or ATi x1800 will probably kill over on high settings. 1.5+ GB of RAM is highly suggested if you even plan on looking at F.E.A.R's high settings options screen without frying your computer.

The variety/quality of F.E.A.R's audio is orgasmic. From the little girl laughing to the little creatures scattering on the floor, you will be scared. Using my headset, I could hardly breathe because of hearing things all around me. F.E.A.R gives a whole new meaning to directional sound. Headsets will play a great role in this game, since the directional sound is optimized for perfection. I highly suggest the eDimensional AudioFX headset if you want to experience this game the way it should be experienced.

F.E.A.R is not meant for the easily scared, weak-hearted, or PETA. This game is hardcore all the way. ESRB doesn't have the actual rating for this game (21+, hardcore mature, "go-change-your-pants scary"). I don't think anybody except heartless, feelingless, demented psychos should play this game because of the sheer brutality of it. Children under 11 shouldn't even be allowed to look at the screen while the game is on.
