This is very similar to the GTP Tyre Challenge that I ran in GT5 a few months ago. That series failed due to repeated car changing and lack of entrants.

However, due to popular demand (about 3 people) the Tyre Challenge is back, but I can't be bothered to run it in GT5 so it will be in F1 2011.

Races will be held on Sundays at 7pm GMT and will be 100% race distance.

Everyone is to start on the harder, Prime tyre and at the end of lap one, you must pit onto the softer, Option tyre with the yellow ring on it. You must remain on this tyre till the end of the race.

If it starts raining, you must remain on the soft tyre. You may not pit to wet tyres. (the only exception to this is if the rain begins early enough for me to say that you may pit to rain tyres if you wish. You must then stay on those rain tyres for the entire race)

If you take damage to your car, you may not pit to repair it.

Post below if you are interested and please vote for the 10 tracks that you want in the series. There will be a pre-season on the second sunday after the game releases at Hungary.

Thread will be updated and made to look professional soon

I cannot think of a more pointless event.

Surely anyone buying F1 2011 would rather be playing the game than doing this

Amen reverend. This might possibly have worked with GT5, but it's just a silly gimmick if it's for these F1 games. If you put the options on and drive until the tyres become fully worn, it's literally like driving on ice - you have to brake, slow right, right down then gradually steer and then not touch the throttle till the car is completely straightened. Doing this for a 100% race (probably the guts of two hours given how slowly everyone will be travelling) is the gaming equivalent to watching grass grow.

Put me down for this too as will also be picking up F1 2011 on launch day probably and will have to defend my title from the first season.

I forgot to metnion the wild cards. You will get 5 of them. THis entitles you too a pit stop. And I might shorten the race distance as well.

You may have to wait until F1 2011 comes out before thinking about race distances. We don't know what the tyre wear model will be like in F12011. Probably a lot more severe than 2010 because of the Pirelli tyre.

I'd say that's the idea, cause doing it on F1 2010 will just need a bit of tyre preservation. I've got to be completely honest GT5_X2010, this sounds really boring and the pit cards sound tacky. Also, why 10 tracks? Why not a full season or one race instead? Having 10 sounds kinda weird.

I'm just going to race the way Pirelli intended us to.👍

Can I use this thread to advertise my Drive Round F1 Circuits In Reverse Championship?

In actual reverse gear, or just "drive the wrong way" championship. Either would be pretty challenging.

The guy driving a red bull will win every time so this series is pointless.

Haha good one, but no car performance can be equal online.

If you can balance the even so it's viable to stay on one tyre for the duration then I will join.

How anyone is interested in this series I have no idea, seems like an exhibition in wasting time.

you should see one of the GT5 tyre challenge races. They were great fun.

This will be better. Just have faith. Alot of people would of thought Karl Benz and the gas powered wheeled machine was a stupid idea which deserved no attention.....
