are all the F1 cars in GT4 the same model? cuz all the screens ive seen show the same model, only different model.

and yes i am new to the world of GT so cut me some slack yadadig?

Yes, there is only one "F1 car" in GT4. It's available in several different colours, including a black special edition for completing the game. It's not supposed to be based on any real F1 car, but looks quite similar to the Renault 2004 car. It has fully slick tyres though, no real F1 car has had fully slick tyres since 1997.

What's bugging me is the lack of that color chooser >.< getting fed up of doing these 24 hour races (yes even on b-spec) just to end up getting a livary I already have

that sucks, i wish it were like gt3, with diferent year models.

Yeh, it is lousy. The F1 cars in GT3 had different personalities. Some were better on tire mileage or higher revving engines or higher torque engines or better on fuel consumption. PD really messed up when it decided to go one car with umpteen different colors. I guess they couldn't afford the licensing fees. So boring. Hardly worth acquiring them. The GT3 F1 race series was much more fun.

So is there any confirmable rhyme or reason to why PD went a different way with the F1's in GT4? I know the speculation is the cost of licensing, but is there any truth to it?

It's either licencing...lazyness...[sarcasm] or thought we wouldn't be too bothered with it with the awesome fantasticness of the actual game itself [/sarcasm]

Eh...either way...they sure as hell better start letting us change tyre types for future F1 incarnations in GT.

Where is the cost of licensing coming from? They don't actually use "Formula One" or "Formula 1" in the game, do they? The car isn't a real F1 car, it's a fantasy car. I don't see how they would need to pay licensing costs...

Might be something to do with the FIA and the fact it is still practically an F1 car...you know what Max Mosley's like...he sniffs money oppurtunities out like that.

If they don't mention any trademarks then they don't need to pay licenses. Just because something looks like something else doesn't mean you have to pay to have it.
