Fair Resell Prices

I found out that in every previous GT's, the resell price of the cars was just unfair as you buy a 20,000Cr car and will only be able to resell for like 5,000Cr. I think Polyphony should be a little more fair about this or I have another idea.

An interactive car value thing that could evualate the total car value using numberous facts like, modifications installed value, milieage, wall hitting should reduce the value, engine wear, body wear, and things like that.

I think its stupid buy a brand new car at an example price of 60,000$ and only be able to sell it like 15,000$ even if you didnt race it.

What do you think ???

I have always thought the resell values were off. Hopefullty they fix that in the next game.

I think the re-sell should depend on the age of the car, the longer you've owned it the lower it get's. My bigges complaint though is that mod's don't add to the car's value. You spend 400k on tuning your 80 TVR and it's still only worth 20k to sell. You should get a value added for each mod, whic again would go down the longer you have the mod installed.

Yeah it should really be this one. Also, while the price would go down as the car gets older, a decent bit of maintenance should still get the price tag higher again.

Another thing: they need to decide what to do with concept and classic cars. Obviously, selling them would give you an insane amount of money, so I see why PD made it so that you couldn't sell them. But then don't give me an option to just throw them away.

Throwing away a concept car... what an idea!

I'm going off on a bit of a tangent, but what about implementing some sort of auction feature? I'm not really sure how it work, and it would probably get fairly predictable, but I just thought it might be something worth discussing.

Will game play improve if you get more for selling a car? I do not think so.
Think of it this way, if resale values go up then prize money will come down.
Several rules to follow.
Only sell duplicate prize cars.
Never sell cars you buy at the beginning of GT because you will lose money.
Keep using the car to win repeat races untill you have enough for a new car.
Do not put to many costly upgrades into your first car when your bank is small.
Pick a good starter car that can enter most of the early races.

Well, if resale value increases, it doesn't mean that prize money will drop. Keep in mind that maintenance will figure into our GT5 budget, and PD will have to figure out the economics of that so we don't get swamped with bills.

I think added value should indeed figure in, and the auction is an excellent idea. I think there's even a similar feature in Sega GT.

Guys come on, if you buy a luxury car there prices depreciate like crazy, obviously this doesn't apply to a race car since people+ teams don't sell there cars or really even normally price them for resale.

And does it really add to the game that much?? I really would like to see it adjusted a little, but if its a better resale system or 10 new cars i'll go with the cars, but because i don't like to resale to many of my cars

By having price/resell price like GT4 has, you are loosing money for nothing even if you dont even race the car. You buy a 50,000$ and sell it for 15,000$, whats the point of loosing money for nothing... :ouch:

So what if it's not a fundamental flaw?
All these little improvements would help make the game better as a whole, so it's worth discussing them here. And what kind of choice is that? You think including more options would lead to less cars? Be sure there's a seperate team working on just the cars, for pretty much the entire development cycle of the game. A little feature like this wouldn't do anything to the number of cars.

I say it's worth implementing, even if it doesn't add to the game that much. I won't cry if it isn't in, but I'd be happy if it is.

How about if the value increases slightly only after it has won a race?

I'd want a winning car and would pay for it; but I sure as heck do not want some trash heap that can't even place. You can either keep that car, sell it for scrap or find some other sucker. :)

I've always thought used prices were fair. Actually, the amount of depreciation calculated for each car is accelerated, but is in tune with the accelerated engine wear from mileage.

Simple modifications, like club-racer style lightening, engine mods and the like, actually do decrease the resale value of a road car. What should be implemented, though, is that full-race modifications (i.e.: making the car a full-on high power race car) should increase the secondhand price to the original value or slightly past it, just not to levels where the sale would pay for the total price of the mods.

One problem with car sales in GT4 is that mdos don't transfer with the sale. The car is returned to stock condition. Thus the low resale value of fully modified cars.
