What difficulty of the family cup can you race at that is challenging for you?

I can win almost all races at 5 and 6 is fun and challenging. When Ive got a car Im really good with like the M5 I can sometimes win with a 5 second lead with difficulty set at 7 but get whooped at 8...

When I still raced with the DS2, I used to do +10 races with the M3 GTR Race Car in Grand Valley and win it easily. However, there were some combos that I couldn't win on anything higher that +5. In general, I'd put +3 or +4 for the first-time combos.

PS.: Since I got DFP, I didn't play much GT4 (although I have started a new career, so I'm playing almost everyday again), so I don't know if I still win those +10 races. I'll try that later.

Since I usually race supercars at the Nurburgring or touring cars anywhere, I put it at ten. Even then its super easy, getting first within two or three laps anywhere but the Ring.

I know I'm not driving hard enough combos. Has anyone beat a level ten 5-lap nurb race with a stock Spyker on SM tires, stock weight/power?

Varies a lot for me, it depends on the combo. If I'm just playing around with a new car I normally set it to +6 or +7, but if I'm racing seriously with a car i am familiar with its normally +9 or +10. Or if I'm stuffing around i will set it to minus 10 just so i can play around with the A.I.

If I´m just testing a car, I´ll set it to 3-4, but if I want to race seriously, I go for 10. Still not too much of a challenge though...the AI really suck in GT4!

Where is the "depends on the car" option?

+10 - stock Suzuki GSXR - Grand Valley - Won by 11 seconds

+10 - tuned Mazda Carol - Grand Valley - Lost by 29 seconds

I challenge anyone to win a family cup race, when the AI is set at +10, in a Mazda Carol.

And its not just the Carol. Any old, low powered car will have the same problems.

+10 - Fully Tuned Fiat 500R - Seattle (Forward) - DNF

Lol, it's pretty much impossible, I was against two Mitsubishi Evolutions, an FPV Typhoon and Jensen Interceptor.

Does the Dodge show up?

Usually somewhere between +5-10. Won a +10 with my Spec C WRX at beginner course hard to to as there isn't any places to pass cleanly and it's only 2 laps

It totally depends on the car, it has little to do with your abilities; rather it's your car's abilities that are at stake. You can always add more power and wind up starting with a higher number.

That being said, I like starting off at zero to +2, then working my way up. My B-spec driver I'll start anywhere from -9 to zero (depends on how much power and limits my car is capable of.

were do you adjust the laps? i don't like 2 lap races at Tsukuba...
therefore i always race at 2-3 so i win in 2 laps.
5 or 10 lap races i guess i could win at level 6 or 7
depends on the car also.

I'm with Toronado, the artificial ignorance doesn't really put up much of a challenge.

That depends on how much power your car has. If you're in the habit of giving yourself too much, sure the Ai won't be able to challenge as much.
