Now, I quite liked the first two Scary Movies - although the second one was slightly weak. The big-budget horror movies have dried up considerably since then, so you have to wonder what diverse bunch of films they'd take their inspiration from...
Signs and Ring. That covers it entirely.
One gag they thought was SO funny, that they used it twice inside the first 5 minutes (Pam's breasts, the Sheriff's hat). The aliens sequence was overdone, the whole rapper sequence was overdone (to the Xtreme - it seems like they wanted to just cast every damn rapper on Earth as "Himself") and Leslie Nielsen was, more or less, totally wasted. Everything with the kid in it was crap.
That said, there were some genuine laughs. Charlie Sheen's opening bit was good - reminiscent of Austin Powers 1 - and the 8-Mile sequence was good. The funeral ("It's a wake"... "She's awake?!") was reasonably funny too. And Leslie Nielsen did get in the KILLER line of the entire film - but that's because it's directly lifted from another one of his films - near the end.
Summary - brain off, spot the films, laugh a bit. Don't bother with the out-takes if you watch the DVD.
I just want to say good luck. We're all counting on you.
