If you own a set of Fanatec ClubSport Pedals V3 I would love to hear your thoughts on the pedals now that you've had a chance to use them. Or, even if you don't own a set, but you've used the V3 pedals I'd like to hear your thoughts too. I can't afford to go any higher end right now and I see mostly good reviews for these pedals, but I'd prefer to hear from actual owners who've been a lot harder on these pedals than someone who's reviewing them for 1 day.

Any problems or design elements that you do not like with the V3's?

Do you have dampers installed? How did the pedals feel without them and how much better do they feel now with the dampers?

Could you see any problems in only installing a damper on the brake pedal instead of the brake and throttle pedals?

Do you think these V3's absolutely NEED to have dampers installed? Would you consider them worthless without the dampers?

I'm currently rocking a DFGT with the included pedals - I play Assetto Corsa exclusively. I want to replace both my wheel and pedals, but I can't afford to do both at the same time, so I figured better pedals would be smarter to get first. The DFGT pedals feel terrible.

Any other thoughts that you'd like to share about Fanatec V3 pedals?

Thank you for your time.

The V3's are a big step up from the Logitec G25/G27 pedals, and should also be a big step up from the DFGT pedals. The clutch has a clever mechanism than makes it so at the end of its travel the tension gets a bit lighter like real cars.
You can adjust quite a few things which is nice, 2 pedal sets (the faces) are provided and there is side to side, up and down, and tilt adjustment. It makes it pretty easy to find a comfortable position.

The only negative thing I would ding it for is the small travel on the brake, its maybe 3 inches of travel and if you adjust the main body of the brake or add the brake mod (they are testing) the travel is reduced even more. You get used to it after a bit though. Also I chose not to adjust the brake body so I could maximize its travel.

I didn't test before and after the damper, but I do like the progressive feel it gives. My last pedal set had mods to make the brake progressive, so I couldn't go back so to speak I went straight for the damper.

There's no problem at all with just getting a damper for the brake, infact I would recommend not getting the damper for the Gas pedal as you dont want a progressive feel there and it'll wear your foot/ankle out quicker.

The damper is well worth it, It will make it easier to find the right brake pressure. Although if you use ABS it might not effect you as much.

Thank you for the information @grog and for the videos @super_gt... I'm sure I'll end up ordering a set of the v3 pedals. I can't really think of a pedal set that would be in the same price range and same quality. Frankly, I don't know a heck of a lot about sim racing hardware, but it seems that whenever I come across a quality set of pedals they're charging $700-$1500!! That is WAY out of my price range.

Hmm...One thing I didn't think of is I'm going to have to come up with my own way to secure these pedals if I do indeed go with the v3's. Right now I do not have an actual rig for sim racing. I sit on a recliner in front of my 55" TV and there is a rug beneath my feet. The DFGT pedals have that row of plastic "teeth" that dig into the carpet to prevent the pedals from moving away from you when you apply force to a pedal. The Fanatec v3's don't have that, obviously. I suppose a could make something with a piece of wood easily enough... Well, I'll cross that bridge once I actually have the pedals in my hands.

Well a rig always gives the best results but you do need on to use one. They dont have a carpet gripper that I recall, but it might be ok on carpet as the four corners may dig in and provide enough stability, if it were a flat bottom it would definately slide. For mounting to a rig there are 4 holes on the bottom.
To get the ideal angle on the pedals for your seating position you may want to angle them (or prop up the back) so that you arent stepping straight down on them.

Ive seen where people lashed/tied their pedals to there chairs so they don't move apart. One guy used an old dog leash.

The playseat challenge is great and foldable so it doesn't take lots of place but you get a good cockpit for cheap that you can store easily.

My brother has a Playseat Evolution and says its great. He never uses the damn thing (forza player), but his GF bought it as a XMas gift, so I can't swipe it from him. :mischievous: That Playseat Challenge looks decent for a quick, very small footprint rig on the go! The only problem is, I would kill myself for not spending only $100 more and getting something like the Evolution...however, the thing I don't like about the Evolution is the bar between the legs. I know, I know...I'm a picky little be-yotch.. Ugh...Can I just give someone $3,000 and have them put together the perfect rig for me? ;)

I tested both and personnaly I like the challenge much better than the evolution. I thought that the challenge was more comfortable especially during long plays.

As for getting the perfect rig, if you got money you can get it :D The Fanatec one at 999eur is pretty cool, wanted that for a long time but sadly I don't have a dedicated room for sim racing so yeah XD

There is a thread dedicated just to rig setups on the official Assetto Corsa forum. My God, there are some out of this world awesome rigs in people's homes. I'm actually lacking the space right now too. Technically, I could set up a rig in a big space, but I wouldn't want it there 24/7 and if I made what I actually want, it's not going to be movable.
