I may have a possible problem with the update.

Help... If the latest Firmware for the CSW V2 isn't Fw=205(beta) Driver = 65 please read below.
.................................................................................................................................

History.

Received my CSW V2 the other day along with my SQ shifter. I already have CSP V2s.

I do not have a Fanatec wheel yet as waiting for a Xbone wheel.

Decided to update firmware today.

So before plugging base with pedal/shifter attached to base into the usb on the pc. I downloaded the V205 (64) firmware from the fanatec site.

Opened and run on the pc. Loaded ok.
Opened and then plugged in and switched on the V2 base.
Windows recognised it and automatically downloaded drivers etc.

Anyway opened the Fanatec prop page again and went to the "update" tab. With the base ON I connected to the base (the web page link did not work) (think my pc was doing its own updates). It went into bootloader mode.
Then clicked (Load .hex) tab. This opened a pop up box (sys32 or something). But no .hex files found.
Believe/hoping it was already loaded in the update box.(from my original download I did before starting).
So had to disconnect in the update prop page and re connected then ship the "load .hex" and just went to "flash firmware" tab.

Said complete.

...............
SO.... hope I did it right BUT I didn't check what the version was before I started.
Reads Driver = 205 (beta) Firm = 65.

Is this correct?

Also couldn't get my V2 pedals to be recognised when plugged in the V2 base. Not sure if its the stupid short Din-Din connecter or a firmware problem.
Any ideas??

Thanks for reading and for any help. Need to soon get a wheel to test and calibrate the shifter also as that is all to pot also.

I believe you updated the firmware properly, as the hex file is part of the driver. When you clicked load Hex file it went looking in your sys32 folder for the file that is not there. So all that is needed is connect/ flash Firmware/ restart wheel. :)

As for the pedals, I'm at a loss.

Thanks mate. I did download the 64 bit version (before installation) of the driver as my pc runs 64 bit.

Just wanted to check with other people who updated what the versions was as forgot to check before I started.
..................

V2 pedals have been working fine with a CPX adapter with the TX wheel, plus tested a while back with the USB on the computer.
Problem is when connect Din/Din short adapter with RJ to plug in the base. It seems to plug together too easy.
As I don't have a wheel I am not sure if it all works ok together. The wheel and shifter need calibrating as are out, but need a wheel for that.

The V2 pedals take firmware from this update(I think), so was just checking it was correct.
Driver = 205 (beta) Firm = 65?

Your good on driver/ firmware. (v205 driver/065 firmware).

Looks like the pedals use the driver for PC, but do not have firmware.

Re: Pedal connection issue. My CSW V2 came with 2 of those adapters. Couple of ideas, try other jumper, double check ps2 connection at pedals (just remove the 3 screws on foot plate for access), plug pedals into PC via USB just to check. Sorry I'm short of ideas. I plug pedals into wheel myself (I currently run PS3) and was able to check them on my PC while doing the firmware/ wheel calibration. It is good to check operation of all pedals at that screen. For me mainly it was gas and brake would achieve 100%.

Re: pedals...

Those connectors on the (short) cable are JUNK. There's a reason that it feels like it's "too easy." It's because it is. Whenever a customer of mine states that their pedals or shifter aren't working, the first question I ask if they they are using that cable. It's the first thing to check. I'm not bashing on Fanatec at all, it's just a fact the cable is a weak point where the male PS2 connects to female PS2. It's too bad you don't live in the US or I could get you a proper cable in about 2 days to you door. :(

Do you have one of the RJ12 to PS2 cables that you can test with? I thought their wheels came with several types but maybe not...

In the interim, you can try sort of twisting/bending the connector where the cables meet to see if you can get it working. If you find the sweet spot, you can maybe tape it as a temporary fix.

Trust me, I've had at least 100 customers ask me to fix issues with my stuff when the culprit ends up being this cable. Not fun. ;)

I had no idea that it came with that RJ12 to PS2 cable. Thank you. I don't know why, but I did not go completely through the bag of cables.

Thanks MrBasher...good to see you.

I have a CPX adapter ordered(Nov 2014) from you that is due to be made soon (I hope). Could I order a long lead (RJ12/PS2) that you mentioned to be shipped with that? Will send you a PM later.

I currently have a CPX but have ordered another one for a friend that has no PP account.

The pedals work fine via USB to PC and via CPX with TX & PC. So guess its either the V2 base not reading it or it needs the wheel connected to read it.
Maybe someone with the whole set up could remove the wheel and check if the brake pedal works.

kwaka.

edit....the only RJ/PS2 cables that come with the V2 base is the 2 short ones, but they wont fit in to the pedal pcb as are female. So they have to connect to the one that goes in to the CPXfrom the PCB on pedals.

My SQ shifter has a RJ/RJ to connect to the base so cant use that.
Really need one of your RJ/PS2 cables.

I'm fairly certain the cable came with my V2 wheel and not the CSP V2 pedals. I did have to return the first wheel I received due to mechanical issues. So I think the cable may have been boxed in the second wheel I received. I say this because looking at the quick guides that came with both wheels the first actually came with a V1 guide. I received my first mid December and second mid January. It's possible they started adding the cable at a later date. It certainly couldn't hurt to ask.

Purchased a Formula rim to test the base.

All seems to function in the Fanatec control panel (including the brakes), but couldn't get it configured in R3E to actually steer. Buttons all worked, but no steering/brake or throttle.

I must admit I am new to the sim racing scenario and probably just need to assign stuff.
The TM wheel set up works fine on R3E.

Waiting to build my new pc that will run AC before try again.

I know for sure now the RJ to PS/2 cable does not come with a CSW V2. So it must have come with the clubsport pedals. I checked the Fanatec site and it is not a listed accessory or even included in the packaging of CSP's. It did come from them though I am sure of that. I would suggest contacting them to purchase. I bet the shipping is more than the cable. LOL

2 Short RJ to PS/2 female adapters DO come with csw v2. The ps/2 to ps/2 (males) comes with the pedals. That's why you get the short adapters as the csw v2 only have RJ inputs.

My v2 base is now packed for RMA return.

If I read your first post correctly you mentioned that you attempted to install a new firmware on the base but you also mentioned that at the time you did not yet have a wheel rim. If this was the case then this would explain the problems you are having.
To install firmware you must have all devices connected - ( pedals - shifter etc. etc. and yes even a wheel rim with the required electronics ( BMW GT - Porsche Rim - Universal Hub - etc.)
If you had not installed a wheel rim the firmware update will not be terminated properly as the rim`s memory chip will not have the necessary files in it.

Your correct dave. I didn't have a rim at the time of installing firmware, but it went on ok in the end.
Purchased a Formula rim and it all seemed to work ok including the pedals.

@dave. What happens when you buy a new rim? Do you have to flash the firmware on the base everytime you add a rim?

ps. Anybody know the correct return address for fanatec for RMA returns? Waiting for email confirmation from them but its a bit slow.

Odd news. I know where the mystery cable came from. Take a look here http://www.fanatec.com/us-en/pedals...net&utm_campaign=General+Links&a_aid=gtplanet and look at "What's included". Yes, yes it is the third item down. PS/2-RJ11 cable that has been so elusive.

Re: Your wheel RMA. You should see in the email where to send your wheel and how. If not I would make sure you are conversing with Fanatec.

Can I inquire as to what your wheel problem was?

RMA is for steering input lag/spiking.

Received RMA confirmation and requesting Address and time etc for pick up from me, but no return address. The one at the bottom of the email is...

Endor AG
Seligenthaler Straße 16 a, D - 84034 Landshut.

May get another email before Thursday with confirmation, but want to know in advance in case I do not get another email. I Have requested it from them, but not sure would have got a reply over the weekend.

I would say you will receive another email with RMA number reference and return address with shipping instructions.
