I got this Fanatec GT2 wheel second hand and used it for about 4 months before if stopped working.

This is what it does now (not my video)

or

Contacted Fanatec support and was told that the wheel is unrepairable. They would have replaced it if it was still under warranty but without an invoice - no deal.

Can someone tell me if it really is unrepairable - the wheel turns but gets stuck going counter clockwise. I can't help thinking that some electronic part is faulty and if you replace that, it will work again.

I've opened it up and can't see any obvious signs of faulty parts eg. burn marks, etc.

Any help will be much appreciated.

While it was working it was a big step up from my DFGT.

Will I buy another Fanatec - probably not if they don't last more than a year and are declared unrepairable.

I could be wrong but I have a feeling it's to do with the 'zero' sensor, I have seen it cause a similar issue in my CSR-Elite

Thanks guys. I'll contact Fanatec support about getting a code wheel sensor.

Fingers crossed that this will fix it.

I hope you manage to find one.

👍

Received a new Code Wheel sensor from Fanatec yesterday. Replaced it and powered up the wheel - no difference at all. Wheel rotates to right then full left and stops there, does not return to centre.

I would have tried the zero sensor first to be honest, it's the sensor that reads the small metal strip on the main pulley

Thanks for that - I didn't even know about the zero sensor - (or thought that the zero sensor and the code wheel sensor were one and the same). Ordering parts from Fanatec is expensive...

Sorry that it didn't work for you. Maybe the Zero Sensror will work.

demagnetize or something...
((((((
so cool wheel and so creepy staff(( i use it just several times on PrCars on ps4 - it going just
sumptuously
then it just broken

like a old jaguars ))

i thinking now:
why it see right side point but didn't see left?

maybe there is 2 magnets with different polarity
on turning plate endrotation points mark other magnets
in that way it can understand where last left or right points
and center can be market in 3 way - so it can understand where left right or center
something like that way i think...

is it any way to see what kind and how many markers or something exactly on rotation plate?
maby problems there?

tomorrow will
disassemble my GT2 to see it inside own eyes)

seem to me that problem is that it didn't see CENTRAL point on rotation plate...

My wheel is sort of working now, I don't know how long it will keep on working but I'm just happy it is working.

I'm putting my notes on how it got to a working state - this may or may not work for anyone with a Fanatec GT2 wheel.
  1. Post 1 wheel not working.
  2. Google and this forum recommended changing the code wheel sensor.
  3. Ordered part from Fanatec Aust.
  4. Replaced new code wheel sensor and got it working after a couple of days of trying. Used it for a day and then it stopped working.
  5. On power on, the wheel oscillates left and right and left non-stop.
  6. I didn't know at that time that the wheel was sort of working but with help from seth francis and blue028, I kept going at it trying various things to see if it would work.
  7. Finally tried grabbing hold of it while it was oscillating, it stopped moving and I could switch it to pc and ps3 modes and use it. I could not do this before replacing the code wheel sensor.
  8. It was still oscillating at power on but with step 7, I could use it.
  9. seth francis suggested that the drift setting was causing the oscillation.
  10. Turned DRI (drift) setting to OFF.
  11. Powered on and no oscillation.
  12. Wheel now does not show any problems.

HI
how did you switch it to pc mode?
did it plugged to pc in the moment?

After calibration, Back button (Select) will enter PC mode. Connect and Back button will enter PS3 mode.

I use PS3 mode if I connect directly to PS3.

With the Fanatec drivers on PC, you can use this on a PC if you wanted to.

I have also used GIMX on a PC to use this wheel on a PS4, but that's another story

Also works with Forza M4 and Horizon on xbox360.

I'm glad that your wheel is now working, & that getting a new Code Wheel Sensor was not a total bust.

Did you end up getting a new Zero Sensor as well?

Yes I am waiting for one now. No harm in keeping it as a spare. I suspect my zero sensor may go anytime.
