Fanatec GT3RS V2 + CSP losing connection to PS3

Got my new GT3 RS wheel and CSP on Monday, connected the up and they seemed to work fine for about an hour.

Ever since them i get an occasional fault where the connection to the PS3 seems to drop momentarily and the wheel pulls off hard to the right.

Tried various settings on the wheel and no difference, also tried different USB cables and ports on the PS3... no joy.

Anyone else getting this and can help.

I have logged a fault with Fanatec but not got anything back yet.

I seem to recall in the last week someone having a similar problem, if you have a look through the last couple of pages on this sub forum you might find it, if I recall it was a send it back jobbie though, I could be mistaken though.

I have some of these on the way! I hope this isn't the case with mine! I don't want to have to turn around and send them right back.

Heya!
Got the same problem. I would say it happens once every 2 hours of play. Tried to avoid it by using a self powered USB-Hub, but no difference.
The last days i just played TDU2. There it's very nice to see, cause the game pause and you get a message on the screen "No controller plugged in" or something like that.
Any news by your side? Have you tried to contact the fanatec support?

Thx for reply!

This sounds like a problem with the USB port of your PS3. It can also happen if you use an extension cable or an unpowered USB hub.

Our wheel is sensitive if the USB port does not meet the official specs.

Do you have the new slim consoles? We noted that those consoles have sometimes unsufficient hardware components.

Don't mean to sound disrespectful, but as an owner of a GT2 who is having issues.. can you be more specific about your thoughts around this?

in what regard are your wheels "sensitive"?

And in what way are those consoles insufficient with regards to there hardware?

perhaps those weren't the best chosen words to have used, but given a lot of us have sunk the cost of the console in the wheel and again on a set of pedals.. we'd be keen to understand where the issue may lie, and perhaps offer some suggestions on how we might resolve them.

I would think that usb power was not sufficient. But it seems even using powered hubs didn't solve this problem..

Had the same problem with GT5(GT3RS V2 + CSP)! sometimes the force feedback disappears for a fraction of second, sometimes the wheel pull to the left or to the right! :(

Not helping with a solution but i had no issues with my GT2 on both a 40gb Phat ps3 and 120gb slim ps3 - never had a drop out in hundreds of hours of GT5!

I also had the wheel plugged in via a Guitar hero dongle thing that had 2 usb ports on it, in essence a unpowered 2 port hub...

This has happened to me too when playing Portal 2. But with my standard PS3 controller. So I guess Thomas/Fanatec is right and it has got nothing to do with the Fanatec wheel but all with the USB or USB extention cable.

I'm glad I still have my fatty! :) Good thing its the PS3 too, I'm going to buy the GT3 RS once I get paid.

Thomas/Fanatec will always try to put the blame somewhere else. ( don't forget the Fanatec wheels are emulating a Logitech G25 wheel in PS3 mode) I remember in the past Thomas tried blamed UPS for all the damage wheels people received. I dealt with others online who apologize to me even though it seem the item was damage through the mail.
Do you keep your standard controller connected by USB? I know Microsoft wheel will lose it's wireless connection. I have yet to lose any connection with a Logitech wheel.

It happened when the controller was connected by USB. It didn't happen once but several times. I think that Thomas is right about this one.
It's the PS3 slim version.
