I was playing Dirt Rally 2.0 last night and mid-stage the car started handling all weird. Then when starting the next stage, the car wouldn't launch off the line. I went to the input reporting screen and the handbrake was registering all over the place before finally freezing at 100%. Restarting everything didn't help. I thought the potentiometer crapped out, so I opened it up and noticed the potentiometer shaft wasn't rotating when pulling the handle. I tightened this bolt (see image) that holds the mechanism together and all is well. Figured I'd share this with everyone before you send it back to Fanatec or throw it out, an issue could be as simple as this.
Update: I noticed it happening again pretty quickly and found that it was because I have it side-mounted and the surface with that bolt is being pressed up against the 8020 rail and restricting the rotation which was causing it to loosen. I fixed it once and for all by placing washers between the handbrake and 8020 rail to create a slight gap, shouldn't happen again.
