Fanatec Paddle Shifters Help

I have manual transmission selected, but when I choose Ferrari F430 or Nissan GTR for example i'm only able to change gear using the H pattern gear stick. I thought it was supposed to automatically enable the relevent gear changing method, ie paddle shifters. Do I have to unplug the 6 speed gear stick first? I ask because I had trouble getting the gear stick calibrated and don't want to unplug it in case I can't connect it again.

On my G25 wheel, there's a little switch which you must turn. This changes the gears from the H pattern to sequential, and vice versa. In order to use the paddles / up-down sequential gears, I have to put this switch to the right position. If your Fanatec setup doesn't have a switch like this, then you may just have to disconnect the H-pattern gears.

I have the Porsche Turbo S wheel, and yes I do have to dosconnect the H shifter if I want to use the paddle shifters.

Do you have any trouble when you connect it back again? Like having to recalibrate it each time?
