Update:
The TT Lap Times Sub Forum is now with us.:) If you have existing lap time threads, you can move them to the new sub forum via the ‘thread tools’ menu. Thanks all.

It’s my view that for the hot lapping to be meaningful, a format for listing the conditions is necessary.
Here are the points that I believe ought to be covered:

*Tyres s/m/h (racing bikes)

*Tyres normal/limited supply tyre (road bikes)

*Racing Exhaust yes/no (for road bikes)

*Gearing (standard/adjusted)

*Harder Rules yes/no (I suggest that the harder rules be adopted for time trials, as the licence test conditions go some way to ensuring that laps are clean.)

*Pro Controller Mode yes/no
*Game Mode arcade/TT (If the arcade mode is used, a list of quick tune modifications would be required.)

As replays can be saved on a USB stick without additional software, it would also be useful to upload the ghost in order to support one's lap.

Thoughts...

I'm a proponent of a hot-lapping subforum.

It has the benefit of collecting the threads in a place so they're easy to find and allows members to post their times in the correct place. While the TT forum is pretty small and I've only really seen posts from a few members when the game is released in North America in 2 weeks and in PAL in 6-7 weeks there's a chance this forum will grow and we might end up with 100 zOMG I JUST ran a 8:00.00 time on the 'Ring threads cluttering up the discussion.

Another problem with leaving them in the main discussion is a member might create an interesting topic, then 5 minutes later another member updates the hotlaps threads for 20 tracks with his/her times and pushes all other topics not only out of the top 5-10 threads but off the main page completely.

I also agree that users should specify their bikes, settings. If TT is anything like GT4 than switching to stickier tires will knock a few seconds off your lap time all else equal.

Good idea, Sam - and I've requested a new sub-forum to be created, so hopefully that might be a reality shortly.

Failing that, a master-thread could be made and then stickied - in either event, individual threads for lap time discussions in the main forum are not a good idea, so for the time being, please do not post new threads for laptime discussions until further notice - hopefully it won't be long until we either have a sub-forum or a well-organised sticky thread.

Also, I don't know that much about the Wikipedia/Leaderboard side of things, but I'll ask about getting TT lap times incorporated into the leaderboard... someone one more wikipedia savvy could probably set it up themselves, but don't quote me on that...

:)

if a new sub-forum isnt made, how about a sticky for fastest laps? i dont have TT, but, if the tracks are broken up like they are in gt4 then how about a thread for all of the orginal tracks, 1 for real world tracks, 1 for city, and 1 for the test tracks then just sticky them so that they dont disappear?

Sorry for my late reply......
I think that is a very good idea to open a specific sub forum only for Lap Times, it will be more practical and usefull for all contendants.

I think that is enough to specify:

Tyres s/m/h (racing bikes)

*Tyres normal/limited supply tyre (road bikes)

for me is not usefull cause i always use normal series tyres but it must be specified

*Racing Exhaust yes/no (for road bikes)

*Gearing (standard/adjusted)

i always use non modified bikes too (brakes, gear and so on) but is another very important element to specify

Please, open it ASAP

👍 :sly:

I here by vouch my support. :)👍

As TM suggested, it could be done through the GTP wiki but it’d be very messy.

Is there any update on this TM?
Not as yet - I'll see what I can do today...

edit: the leaderboards are currently in the process of being shaken up again, so an official TT leaderboard may be someway off yet... I'm still waiting to here about the sub-forum idea though, so please bear with me for the time being, and I'll get back to you all ASAP :)
