FCPD Pursuit: A Most Wanted Online Event Idea

Hey there! I really like Need For Speed Most Wanted, especially the pursuits, so I wanted to create a game where friends could play online in intense pursuits. This idea is still a little work in progress, so feedback is appreciated.

The event takes place in a friends Freedrive lobby. This is because public lobbies do not have Freedrive, except in short 3 minute intervals between Speedlists. Having this take place in a friends lobby also keeps out the randoms (I've been online twice in this game and both times people tried to wreck me for no reason...).

One player is designated the suspect. They can drive any car, but ideally something the cops can keep up with. Ever tried catching an Agera R at full speed? Exactly. The suspect's goal is to outrun the police and keep out of sight for a full minute. They can go anywhere they wish, but they're busted if they get taken down five times or is slowed to under 5mph with cops nearby.

The rest of the group are cops. They drive certain cars and have chase the suspect to arrest them. Here's the lineup of cars:

Patrol: Unfortunately, I haven't found an ideal replacement for the Crown Victoria yet.

Highway Patrol: Dodge Challenger SRT8 392, standing in for the Charger SRT-8. These Challengers are powerful, heavy, and make ideal pursuit cars. These would be the bread and butter of the pursuit force. Dodge Charger SRT8s can also be used, but not everyone has a Slim Jim promotional code.

Rhino: Ford F-150 SVT Raptor, standing in for the Police Interceptor Utility. These massive trucks may be slow, but they are fantastic off-road, and are the heaviest and toughest vehicles this side of a SWAT Truck, and are very hard to takedown. Ford Raptors are definitely a good choice for roadblocks, but may not be able to catch a sports car in a straight pursuit.

Interceptor: Chevrolet Corvette ZR1, standing in for the Corvette Z06. These Corvettes are the fastest cop cars out there, and can keep up with supercars on the highway, but are light and easier to take down than a heavy Challenger or Raptor.

These cars should be blue to represent the FCPD livery, but the police can also use silver.

The police have to arrest the suspect by taking them down five times or bringing them to a 5mph crawl, and they can use several tactics to do this. An ideal team would be seven people, 3 highway patrol officers in SRTs, 2 rhino officers in Raptors and 2 interceptor officers in ZR1s, but any lineup is possible. The police can takedown the suspect, use PITs, and set up roadblocks. If they lose sight of the suspect, they have one minute to track them down before the suspect is considered lost. At least one cop should have a mic to co-ordinate tactics.

So what do you think? I'm still working on this idea.

Would be a great idea if most of the cars in the game didn't wreck once someone grazes them. :indiff:

That could be a problem... Maybe the police can takedown the suspect, but they have to slow the suspect or stop them to score an arrest.

I did something similar with some friends 4 of us had gran turismo pace cars online on the top gear track we would ask a random person to try and avoid us it was great fun till other drivers thought we were picking on him then started hitting us. still its a good idea :)

...If they lose sight of the suspect-

If you're implying this is a made up game within the game, then problems will mainly be making the calls and judgements.

At what point can you firmly decide when a suspect is "too far", or where you can indicate to everyone that 5 minutes is up? 5mph can result in arguments such as "No! I was only at 6mph! I never dropped to 5!"

Essentially, this game needs to be tightened up with hard-bound rules which will derive from what the game provides you with...like how it tells you when someone is taken out, who finishes a race first, meets up first, time spent doing a challenge, etc.

Visual judgements from multiple TVs on the web lies a huge potential for human error to interfere with accurate and true results.

Beginning to think that's a Criterion staple, been playing Burnout 3 again, and I see some similarities in crash-physics.

In Burnout games takedowns are based on weight & momentum of the vehicles. In MW it seems to based on whomever touches who first.

This is a great idea , i want to join if i can... :)
And yes , hate those people when we just park our cars and then they totaled us ... i usually don't just park my car again , i'll go for revenge , except if it was not on purpose
