Ferrari Challenge and the G25, did they get it right??

I bought ferrari challenge since the game came out and bought the G25 immediately after that.
The G25 steering didn't seem to work very well with Ferrari Challenge at that time.
Delay in steering, questionable FF reactions that made it difficult to even drive in a straight line...
I think there was one update at the time that made you soften up the FF in the menu but it still the game didn't drive well with a steering wheel compared to other games.
Has anything improved since??
Think i'm gonna sell the wheel as i bought it especially for this game and only used it a couple of times.

I'm running the NTSC version of the game and I assume you're running the PAL version. The NTSC has an additional patch which helps decrease the on-center dead zone. The patch came out in November and my memory of the steering pre-patch is somewhat faded. But aside from the dead zone, I think Ferrari Challenge and the G25 go very well together. The game has incredibly strong FFB and I think Eutechnyx did a wonderful job of communicating grip, understeer and oversteer through the wheel. I think FC and the G25 are an excellent match.

Sometime in May there is supposed to be an additional update for PAL users so you might want to wait.

Yes, i am a PAL user.
Think i wait a bit for a new update before i put it on ebay and regret selling it.
I asked a friend about it on playstatation network who plays a lot ferrari challege nowadays with a wheel (not sure he got the G25 but he has FF) and the steering wheel of his works fine with midnight club but not with ferrari challege he mentiones.
At the time i drove better with the pad but will see how it goes when the patch comes out in may.

I am a PAL player and play FC with a G25. To reduce the deadzone you must set the Force Feedback strengh to "High". It will be a workout for your arms but then again, you are driving 1 ton cars with large slicks so I find it quite realistic.

I know NTSC players have less deadzone then we PAL players have. However, I find driving FC with the G25 the best wheel experience available on the PS3. 👍

The trouble with setting the FFB to High is that the steering will tend to self-center too much and the Ferrari F430 Challenge, like its plain F430 counterpart has a very light feel to the steering as oppose to heavy. A few of the cars, however- the 360 Modena and even the GT version and even the 550 Maranello (and the GT version)- seems to benefit from the High FFB steering but others especially the F430 need something in between the Medium and the High setting (in my opinion).
It's too bad that in other than the Challenge mode, you can't fiddle with the car setup. Having the Spring damping (dampening) set to high (while setting the spring to low or vice-versa) seems to tighten the handling which to me nulls the apparent deadzone issues (slightly) on the NTSC version. Of course, I'm looking forward for the update because I still find steering (with my G25) to be a contentious issue in FC.

You need to recalibrate the wheel while in game. After I do this I have no problems with the steering or keeping straight lines.

Wheel and pedal sensitivity - max and medium
Force feedback - low
