Look out Porsche GT3, Ferrari is ready to race in the FIAGT2 class this year...

Leftlanenews.com
The latest in a long line of client orientated Ferrari racing cars has arrived this month in the form of the 4.0-litre V8 aluminium chassis F430GT. This exciting new machine, developed as usual by Ferrari in conjunction with fabled Italian tuner Michelotti, is set to take the racetrack fight to the Porsche runners in the international FIA GT2 categories around the globe, turning the tables on the German brand which has dominated proceedings in recent years.

The new F430GT is based on the hugely-successful road-going F430 berlinetta. However the swage of cutting-edge driver aids have been swept away along with the road version's opulent interior. Thus the aluminium chassis, which incorporates the use of carbon fibre, nomex and kevlar materials, combine to see the new racer weight in at just 1,100kg. Major wind-tunnel work was carried out in the development of the F430 Coupé and this work has been taken a stage further in the development of the F430GT. Likewise the close focus on chassis rigidity that has seen the new F430 Coupé being much stiffer than the outgoing 360 Modena, has been translated to the F430GT and will be one of its major steps forward from the 360GTC, the final evolution of the 360-based racing lineage.

The 3.998-litre 90-degree V8-engine in the F430GT is based around the F430 Coupé and Spider's 4.3-litre unit (the difference in capacity is required to conform to FIA GT2 regulations). With its lightweight aluminium block and cylinder heads, flat-plane crankshaft, extremely compact dimensions thanks partly to integrating the engine bearings into the sump, and major use of F1 derived technology, especially in the cylinder heads, this is an all-new engine that shares no components at all with the outgoing 360 Modena's powerplant.

Vulgarity has been made flesh!

Well, metal and carbon fibre.

Very sexy!

That GT3 don't stand a chance!

The 430 looks so angry at the front - 'eyes' angled down, big flared 'nostrils'. I love it! 👍

^Well no, you won't be able to buy this like a normal F430 as this is a race car. Maybe it'll be available for race teams to purchase. If they do a Challenge Stradale type deal for the F430 then that would be as close as you can get to this car in street legal form.

Also, is that blue 997 a GT2? It certainly has the telltale signs of a turbo engine.

No worries needed for a Challenge Stradale.
It's already being produced and is expected to go on the market very soon.

I love both cars very much, and between the two, it is a tough choise for which I would want and who I would want to win. I'd love to see a Ferrari return successfully to GT2 competition, but in my heart I'm a Porsche fan...

Still, its a pretty damn cool race car. I'm eager to see how well the new F430 Challenge model will perform compared to the Corvette Z06, Viper SRT-10 Coupe, and Porsche GT3.

If it's four liters flat... how is it an F430? Shouldn't it be an F399 or F400...?

Let me tell you something. I loved the 360 Modena... and still do. I loved the Ferrari F430... and still do. I seen the F430GT... and love this thing too. It screams all-business. I don't think it's completely vulgar. What it is, however, is one badass Ferrari. You know what you're getting with a Ferrari. The owner of an F430 would have the time of his/her life on the roads. The owner of an F430GT would have the time of his/her life on the track. Porsches may be a dime a dozen in sportscar racing, but this may be Porsche's biggest challenge yet. In fact, I like this so much that I probably bet Houston-based Risi Competizione may look into getting a few of these F430GTs and campaigning them in the ALMS. And if they're fortunate enough, maybe Le Mans.

Out of 100% approval of this car, are you kidding me? 100%. I soooo dig this car.

Tbh I think the road car looks ugly and I think this looks uglier. I'm not a fan of the F430 styling.

That is a F430 Challenge. How many street cars do you know have tow hooks? Both the white and yellow ones also have FULL roll cages, something the CS never had (it had a rollbar). The exhaust coming straight out the back of the car is not something you'll see on a production car. It's also got centerlock wheels. There's been a discussion about these pictures a looong time ago on Ferrarichat.

Even if there was an F430CS right now, it wouldn't be put into production until at least 2008. The 348SS, F355 Fiorano and 360CS were all last-year cars built to extend the life of the model. Ferrari won't do that to the F430 when it doesn't need it yet, it's only been out about a year and a half.

Niiice. I love seeing the exhaust exposed like that. Looks very mean. :D
I really need my agree button again - Those exhausts look the business.. Damn..

The car is gonna over heat big time if the driver takes a shortcut over the grass :ouch:

And yeah, it is abit vulgar.
I seen worst GT cars, like any of the current Morgan GT cars.

And the CS is based on what again?
The F430CS is practically here, it's just not street legal.

Hmm, my dutch is a bit rusty here, but I did figure out that the CS will be 50 kg lighter than the "normal" F430, because of things like plexiglass or lexan (it didn´t say lexan, but since that is somewhat in use instead of glasswindows, I figured maybe "plexi" could just some kind of plastic in dutch...) and have 520 bhp.

Id say that is one mean car...but I'm not a fan of F430 styling, just like several others here. I'd say the 360 had better designs - I have a drawing of it drawn by me hanging on the wall. I never bothered drawing the F430.

At first, I didn't like the rear of the car. I've gotten used to it now, and it is a sugar-sweet design to me. Regardless, she is a beautiful lady. This F430GT is her evil twin sister.
