FIA nations scoring?

I just wondered how the scoring works in the FIA nations tournament. I finished second from third in round one and 10th from 18th in round 2. Still only have 185 points. I've seen others with over 300 from just round 1. Does it it take in to account assists? I used automatic gears and 3 traction control. Everything else was off.

You'd think that an official FIA sanctioned event would have clear rules... every real world series has the entire regulations, sporting and technical, available on the FIA website. The most recent mention of Gran Turismo is about two years old, and is obviously not about Sport, but GT6.

better Strength of Field == higher champ points

Problem is, how do I know my DR in number instead of alphabet ?

I'm Rank D with a B SR. I think I was racing against the same rank and SR in round one and a few rank C's in round 2.

I can't seem to get my rank up. I finish in top 5 most races.

on Saturday I was B/S, finished 2nd a scored 900 points
on Sunday I was A/A (crappy oval race messed up my SR), finished 1st and scored only 600 points

So... SR is actually bigger coeficient than DR.

I don't get to choose who I race against. It just puts me with other rank D's.

No one gets to choose. You get matched with others that have the same rating.

So looks like I need to get my rating up. SR seems to go up after each race, but I dont seem to be getting off D DR. I assume this has something to so the SR too. Maybe I need at least an A SR before I can get to DR C.

I had the reverse of your situation. I'm D/S and always finish ~17th (newbie/noob). If my DR really drops I get matched with A/A. This increases strength of field for me, but decreases it for you. I got 197 points for finishing 17th.
However, in another race exclusively with D/S drivers I also got 17th place and got 7 points.

In your situation if you're A/S or B/S you won't get matched with D/S drivers. If you are A/A you will and your points will suffer. SR doesn't seem to be a direct factor in point scoring, but it is a strong factor in matchmaking, resulting in a lower strength of field, but only if you're unlucky enough to end up in the split that mixes D/S with A/A drivers. This is a problem for very weak D/S drivers or really strong A/A drivers and the chance is bigger unpopular races. They shouldn't mix D/S and A/A in these races and fix their matchmaking algorithm.

From my experience and seeing other people's, it's more about the rank of people that you beat in the race. Do you recall or have the screenshots of what everyone's Dr was in your races?

You are very correct sir ;) Yes it probably is all about opponents. My friend @Firehuntah was B/S the other day, like me and we both finished 2nd but we obtained a different amount of points each. Probably because of the field difference.

Yeah I remember there was a lot of B, C and even D drivers (DR)

Looking at my points vs. this thread let alone the leaderboards, it's a joke :-)
After 4 races my total points haul is barely 100 points. 3 in the top 10 one 12(?)

DR is D
SR is S

I'm under no illusions though, I've got a lot to learn, just got a G29 from Curry's. Still enjoying myself an incredible amount so all is good.

Gran Turismo Sport. The only game that launches a championship, albeit a test one, with a complicated scoring system, and doesn't tell anyone how it works:irked::dunce::dunce:. They're known for a lack of communication but this is a little over the top:)

I assume the game is sorting people into finals based on SR and then DR. I have not noticed but it needs to tell you you what final you have been placed in (if it doesn’t already) i.e. you have made the F final and are not actually in the A (RC racers will understand my meaning) that way the people taking part may have a better understanding of why they get a small amount points.

I will approach these races (when I get the chance) in the same way I approach toy car racing, try and win my final, and be happy with that.

I agree that PD do really need to explain how the points are allocated, not that I would understand ;)
