New Features

  • Defensive swing steps: Move where defenders are able to quickly switch direction while running back toward their own goal in front of an attacking player. This apparently stops the player from over-running and creating gaps for the opponent to accelerate through.
  • Reactive AI marking: The designers have also changed the man-marking system so that defenders will now recognise if a player is making a threatening run and move in to intercept.
  • Escapable slide tackles: It should allow more skilled players to control defensive plays more precisely. It also looks like defenders may be able to use this for mid-air blocks, creating rather impressive sliding interceptions.
  • Logical interceptions: The new interception logic system ensures that AI players are much more aggressive in making interceptions. Instead of ignoring the passes that zip past, they’ll stick a leg out and try to make contact.
  • No-touch dribbling: Players are adept at maintaining control of the ball – while dribbling or while stationary – without actually touching it.
  • Angled crosses: Crossing has always been a contentious element of the FIFA: too easy to score from in 2014 and too tough in 2015. So in this edition of FIFA it allows more of a balance between the two.
  • Wrapping a foot around the ball: The game model interaction between the foot and the ball in 3D space – thereby leading to more emergent behaviours.

Ultimate Team - FUT Draft

Draft a squad and challenge opponents in a tournament to win coins, packs, and more. Test your team building skills and pick the best player for each position from a five player draw. Make key choices based on player quality or team Chemistry. Earn bigger match prizes as you progress – win all four games in a row to earn the best rewards.

Career mode innovations
  • Pre-season Tournaments: During the summer months, all the major clubs travel around the world in preparation for the upcoming season. These matches will be a great opportunity to work on your team tactics and line-ups before the start of the regular season - use all your subs to test squad players. The prize purse from these tournaments gets allocated to your transfer budget for the upcoming season.
  • Player training: Managers will be able to train their squad to increase player attributes and boost player development. Each week, select up to five squad players to train from a number of training drills, each focused on developing specific attributes.
  • Improved existing features:
    • Sign free agents outside of the transfer window.
    • Scout Reports - After scouting a player reports are available to you now for an entire calendar year before expiring vs three months in FIFA 15.
    • Transfer Budget -Transfer budgets are now more realistically tailored to the club you're using in Career Mode. Also, a percentage of the remaining budget from the previous season will carry over to the next. and will vary based on where your club finished in regards to season goals.
    • Loans -Short loans have increased from three to six months and there is now an option to issue two-year loans.
    • Global Transfer Network -A new tab allows users to filter all the players that have been fully scouted. Users can also get details on a player’s Overall Rating, value and wage without needing to take an extra step in the menu.
    • Friendly Subs -You will be able to issue an unlimited number of substitutions during friendly matches.
    • More Realistic Transfers -While the transfer window is open, we have tuned the number of ‘high-profile’ moves by big players to better match the number of changes that typically happen in the real-world.
    • Improved Player Transfer Values -We’ve addressed values of players to better match the real-world transfer market.

Fifa 16, biggest piece of garbage of a game.
Everything is wrong with this game.

I'll stick to Fifa 15, and my Ronaldo/Pele & legends team haha. :P

Actually FIFA 15 is one of the worse FIFA's I have ever played. The goalkeeper's couldn't save pee rollers such as Neuer and pace is a massive factor in that game.

I'm guessing you buy coins if you got that team?

I've purchased FIFA 16, but I am new to the franchise. I have a very steep learning curve ahead of me if I want to be a pro at it. I've only scored 2 goals so far.

You will get used to the mechanics very quick and soon you should be able to win loads of games and enjoy it more. I say start playing games in the online seasons as playing against the AI is quite boring and frustrating.

That's exactly what I've been doing

Well, about ten games with my English-only FUT gang and it feels quite different to previous versions.

I think the balance of pace is pretty much bang on, you can outpace people, but not easily.

Passing is very different, nightmare to keep a hold of possession. I suspect this is going to take me some time to get used to. I think Shooting feels a bit odd, outside the box seems easy to score still, but power shots inside the box are not easy to get.

Currently using 4-5-1 (two cams) to improve possession play in the middle, I might revert to a diamond 4-4-2 eventually. Lost my first three games in season 9 online...

I'm currently using the 433 (4) formation and it can hold the possession well. But overall I'm enjoying this years over last years.

I'd rather have FIFA 15's pace where Ronaldo is actually quicker than Terry, over FIFA 16's pace where Mertesacker and Terry are quicker than Ronaldo and other "pacey" players.

I packed Ronaldo actually, and used to much money on fifa points. On top of that I made around 4 millions from trading, and around 1 mill from playing matches (season and cup bonuses etc). And that was on Xbox alone. Haha, i've spent to much time on this game.

The goalkeepers are just as bad in 16 as in 15, hell they've done more mistakes the first 6 weeks on 16 than on the whole year of 15 for me... So yeah, theres that.

FIFA 16 got a bit better lately as I changed a couple settings on the controller options. It's actually possible to pass sometimes now.

But I still think that the faster players should be faster than the slower defenders/midfielders etc etc. But they won't fix that.

That's my opinion though.

To an extent where literally Terry actually can cover as a defender rather than get stuck in the mud. You are over exaggerating your claim of Terry being faster than Ronaldo and this is a FIFA where you have to play possession football instead of through ball tactics to the fastest players.

I'm using the right analog tap a lot more to try and gain ground.

Currently saving up for Sturridge for my English-only FUT team, Kane and Berahino are doing okay, but can be better.

Outside of that, really only want Hart, Cahill and Stirling I think.

Current team is:

Foster
Gibbs Stones Jagielka Clyne
Young Wilshere Oxlade-Chamberlain
Barkley Lallana
Kane

Very solid squad. You should try and get Rooney as he is the one that always scores against me.

New TOTW added to the OP.

I'm generally very happy with the team, I'm getting enough goals (averaging 1.8 per game I think) and the defence is fine. Cahill has made it much stronger. Foster has generally been okay, but a couple of mistakes in the last game are making me lean towards getting Hart.

The FUT coin boosts are so helpful. Making 1400 a game means I don't care about trying to faff with trading.

EDIT: bought Hart and also Welbeck to replace Berahino in rotation with Kane. I find Berahino isn't strong enough to hold the ball at all. Welbeck should be better there with his 78 physical (Berahino 60).

Sturridge or Rooney are a long way off coin wise, so I wanted a short term signing.

Not really seeing anyone else I want to buy for now. Maybe Gerrard with a CAM card.

Well I ended up changing formation to 4-1-2-1-2. I was creating so many chances and felt 2 strikers was better, which it has been. Just won Div 5 title after losing 2 of the first 3 games. Sturridge has scored 14 in 16. Welbeck is 2 a game.

Just bought Sterling for LM, as Young/Rodriguez don't do enough. I got Henderson as back up for Wilshere. Baines and Rooney left only, I think. Maybe Walcott.

Lallana is so well valued, I think. he creates so much.

I still hate defending in the box, as I find you can so easily lose a penalty.

Tried Harry Kane?

Yep, I've played 50 odd games with him. 22 goals. He's pretty good, but a touch slow, I went through a patch of being unable to shoot properly, I think he suffered a bit with that and from the old 1 upfront formation.

Edit: Indeed, bought Baines after seeing how good his passing stats were, another FK option is a decent idea too.

Right then, Rooney is about 20k coins away. Once he's bought I might start doing the FUT Draft things.
