Finally got a 'good draft' but 0mph speed increase

Finally after hundreds of races i managed to be in the perfect position to categorically demonstrate to myself that drafting is screwed

Was a 3 lap Le mans race on the alt-track (unbroken mulsanne straight) in Hypercars (both the NPC in pos. 1 and i were in a Pagani Zonda R)

On lap 1 i was alone on the straight and capped out at 214-216 (shifted a little on the bumps and puddles) but settled mainly at 215mph
On lap 2 i was drafting from my top speed for around a 200-300m closure distance which took almost to the end of the straight to pass.

Got a 'good draft' for that but my top speed never went over 215 either and i was tracking his line to perfection.

Given the air resistance at 215mph must be absolutely massive a draft effect would clearly have a major impact and get me a few MPH improvement but ZERO ZIP NADA
I must have been tracking his line and closing for a good 50% of the straight.

I haven't ever got a good draft. I have been behind cars for a few 100 meters getting a few extra MPH on them, I get good pass sometimes but nothing else.

I have a few perfect drafts, 7 last time I checked, but I never noticed a speed increase any of those times. They too were on Old Mulsanne Circuit.

Interesting. I thought drafting wasn’t even present in the game, as I’ve played what seems like countless hours since getting the Xbox One X on Tuesday, but have yet to get a ‘good draft’. In GT Sport you see and “feel” when you’re drafting successfully.

I have 13 now (checked last night), but I repeat that at no point was I actually drafting. It's bizarre really.

Coupled with the tendency of AI cars to reach "impossible" speeds on tracks with long straights the lack of proper slipstreaming is a bit of a frustration with this release as far as I'm concerned.
