Find This Picture

Basically as the tittle goes, it's a google maps/earth (if it's apple maps please list) scavenger hunt, where one user posts a picture and then gives up to three hints describing its location, history, significance, etc... Try to keep it related to motor racing in some sort of tense, as will make searches (relatively) easier.

The "guessers" must also post a picture once the have found the exact same image, and give coordinates. There is no limit on how many guesses you can attempt per day, and there is no PM'ing for clues...

The "posters" must present a picture in a clear image, taken from a screenshot from phone/tablet/desktop/etc... And also record the relative coordinates to the image. The poster must acknowledge the correct "guesser" as the winner with an :@: Symbol to send an alert for the next image.

I'll try to keep a rolling leaderboard going on as it goes through. Send any questions you have to me on this page and not by PM to keep things fair.

Happy Hunting!

Well here goes my first one:
  1. This building is located next to the town/race track/public roads where the first ever Grand Prix took place (according to Wikipedia).
  2. The first race occurred on my birthday.
  3. The race is known for companies to showcase their latest technologies and battle it out against other manufactures.

Found it: 47*56'21.90'' N, 0*14'04.89'' E, a place also known as pretty much dead south of the first chicane on the Mulsanne straigth of the Circuit de la Sarthe. Proof (if necessary):

Brooklands race track?

Or is it the industrial estate
Nope..

Yup!!! @rallymorten you got it!!
Your turn.

I think we won't do the coordinates matching, as it will push too many people away.

Yay, first blood :D

OK, I think I have a good one:

Are you trying to cheat.JPG

Need a few hints? Ok, why not:

1: The track that passes close to this place is related to the devil
2: The track as well as the most famous event hosted here is said to be as long as a bad day
3: ..and when the day is finally over, the Gran Turismo theme song gets a whole new meaning

Notice: I hope it's OK that I resized the image (in order to not kill the screen sizes. I can make another in a larger size if required) and blacked-out the image copyright thingy?

..and you are indeed correct @Flex0r

As I feel like doing so, I'll explain the hints (this is often the most interesting part in riddling):

1: The track that passes close to this place is related to the devil
1a: The devil lives in Hell, right? And this track is called the Green Hell, thus it's related to the devil
2: The track as well as the most famous event hosted here is said to be as long as a bad day
2.1a: Combined with the GP circuit, the track is some 24-25 km long. Likewise, a day is 24 hours long
2.2a: ADAC Zurich 24h Rennen, nuff said
3: ..and when the day is finally over, the Gran Turismo theme song gets a whole new meaning
3a: The Gran Turismo theme is Moon Over The Castle. Now, I wonder if at some point in the night (when the day is over) of said 24 hour race the moon wouldn't be right above the Nürburg castle seen from at least one perspective.

Hooray! :D

1: The track is in the same country as rallymortens entry.
2: The track is not used for racing anymore since 1998.
3. The wooden stand is a historic monument and the other grandstands are still there.

Correctemundo @rallymorten

Fact: I personally never knew about the track before about 2002, until we passed the grandstands on our way back home from visiting the love parade in Berlin and I went to do some homework afterwards, it boosted my interest in Motor sports

That was a quite, ehrm, interesting background for your research :)

Now that we've had three pretty-much-one-shots, I say we kick things up a notch (muhaha!)

Are you trying to cheat 2.JPG

1: 15 years ago, this neighborhood saw its first race
2: Said race lasted only 40 laps, maybe because the teams were afraid of destroying their suspension
3: Even though the event was as short as 40 laps, it took the six drivers brave enough to race a little more than an hour to complete it

Edit: I'm off for the night, so it'll be a good eight hours before I can reply to guesses :)

Great stuff guys... I will be gone for the next week or so so please be nice and keep it organized and not manage to shut it down. I'm thinking of listing all correct "guessers" and placing +x (x refers to number won) beside the name to show leaderboards.

However, I don't have the time right now to do it so I'll get to it around some time in June.

Since you ask so nicely, I'll try not to run this into the ground :)

No takers over the night, I see? Alright, I'll give another clue:

4: The track is as far from a permanent circuit as you can possibly get, yet these roads hold historical value to most people on :gtplanet:

I swear this is a one-off, just for fun.

@Akmuq takes it!

1: Debuted in GT2, released in late '99 (almost 15 years ago)
2: Reference to Seatle 100 Miles and 'dem bumps
3: 6 drivers, hinty-hint to old GT games
4: Obvious, isn't it? At least now when you know the deeper meaning of the hints?

When I said I'd raise the difficulty I figured there were two options: real track only a handful knows about vs. semi-real (real location) track most GT players know about. Seeing as this is GTPlanet, it was an easy decision to make :)

I guess I'll go.

1. Opened about five decades ago.
2. Track is host to two very popular races (one is more known than the other)
3. The track is currently undergoing a large makeover.

Looks an awful lot like this place just east of Daytona:

Included part of the track for reference, with the picture from the riddle being clearly visible on the right

You shouldn't have said "you're close though" :P

I think I'll P.O. Can't think of a good one right now
