pupikThere's a member named Mr. Slow (correct me if I'm wrong) that has tried to pass the game on the slimmest of budgets. I think he got to 40% before he had to buy a car.
Woo Hoo! And that was just a guess!amp88Yep, that's right. I got to 40.2% before I bought a car.
fcorlI'm sure this has been covered here in the past, but I searched and came up with nothing.
Can you take a path in GT4, that will allow you to finish the game without ever buying a car?
I finnally had to break down, (at 24%), and buy a pick-up truck, for the truck race.
Thanks

-Daihatsu Copen
-Honda Civic (a Civic type R can also be used for the type R races)
-Mitsubishi Mirage
-any Nissan kei car (for the March brothers race, there's a bunch of cars that I don't remember the names of that qualify. I don't think you can win any of them)
-any Suzuki kei car
-Toyota Altezza/Lexus IS
-Saleen S7
-any Shelby (IIRC, they all qualify for the Cobra cup)
-Audi TT
-Audi A3

There may be some races that a prize car can enter, but probably not win, that I missed. There may also be some peculiarities of qualification I didn't see.
EmohawkThis'll be the fourth time I've posted my list here.
-Honda Civic Type R (for both the Civic race and the type R race)
Ezz777its probably also been said 4 times as well, but i am fairly sure there is a prize car that will do the Type R races for you... sorry for the pedantry, and to be honest you still need the civic, so i don't think i have helped all that much...![]()
EmohawkThis'll be the fourth time I've posted my list here. Definatly worth the initial effort![]()
Mr.SlowYour list is only 30 cars long.... I was pretty sure you had to buy 33... Scrooge will be happy!
Also, can you not do the Beetle races with the Beetle GTI? (removing one car from your list)
Couldn't you win an Altezza Touring Car for the Altezza race?pupikThere's a member named Mr. Slow (correct me if I'm wrong) that has tried to pass the game on the slimmest of budgets. I think he got to 40% before he had to buy a car.
Here's the latest installment --> https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=67134 <-- which should link you to the other two pages. One of the best write-ups (oops, race reports) on the game so far.
Some of the One Make Series/Events aren't cars that you can win, unless you buy them in the new or used car showrooms. A few examples are: The Altezza races, the Saleen S7 races, VW Beetle races.
My guess is that you must buy a minimum of 15-20 cars to pass the game. It's not like GT3, where you could concievably buy just 2 cars (a TVR and a Mercedes-Benz).
Yes, but to win the Altezza you need to win the Altezza race.Woolie WoolCouldn't you win an Altezza Touring Car for the Altezza race?
EmohawkEdited to include the Civic/type R specificity, thanks everyone.
Mr. Slow: Yes, sadly there is no Beetle GTi. It's just 2.0, RSi, and Cup. It may be of some comfort to Scrooge that the RSi is almost twice as expensive as the Beetle Cup car anyway, and even at that requires a lot of money to make it competitive with the all-cup car field in the race.
fcorlYeah, I bought the truck at 24% because I really wanted to get to 25% to see what I would win. I definitely could have gone a lot further without purchasing anything though. I could have tried to finish the Missions first. I did finish all of the Rally races in hopes of getting a truck along the way somewhere, but to no avail. Oh well.
STINGE!amp88Yep, that's right. I got to 40.2% before I bought a car.
That reminds me, I've not worked on that game in a while...![]()
