Nice.

Cool! Did I get this right? One car from each category will be in the game? This means we could get a Chip Foose built car in GT5! How cool is that??

Cool, I'm looking forward to seeing what we can get this time round. The only question is, do we lose the one we got in GT4 for GT5, that would be a pity if we did.

If I interpreted it riht, I believe the winners of each category will then be judged for an overall winner which is the car that will be picked.

Nope. The Buick Special and HPA Golf were 2003 and 2004's Best In Show winners respectively. If GT5 is gonna be that outstanding, I can't imagine they'll drop those two...

You say that as if you know. Not many people would've though Vector and Venturi would've been dropped from the series but they were.

Sorry the point I was trying to make was that the 2004 SEMA winner didn't replace the '03 car in GT4. But whether that's because GT4 took so long to come out they had to include both cars is another question...!

Of course i don't know, only Kaz has the answers (hopefully...). But the Buick and HPA Golf are specific custom built machines, rather than 'production' models, so in theory should carry more weight when it comes to the list for GT5.

There's probably some legal reason Vector & Venturi weren't in GT4. Didn't Venturi go bust only to return with that electric powered Fetish roadster? Now that would be a great addition to GT5...

It didn't replace it because it was in baoth, GT4 took so long the second GT4 awards had taken place before it came out, the Golf was a bonus for US and Euorean players.

Ventrui has been going bust on and off for years, they're stillaround though. I think Vectors gone, however thats no reason to not be able to include there cars in other versions of the game. Maybe the licenses PD had were for the one time only, but they still should have got new licenses for GT3 and GT4, the Venturi's and Vectors were amongst the best cars ever to be in a GT game imo.

Ahhhh you are like me, I miss the Vectors, especially the Weigert W8 and the M12, the M12 LM was just sex on wheels. Oh the Venturi Atlantique 600GT LM was the only answer to the Toyota GT1 and R390 in GT2, that thing was just awesome, the 400 was a sweet ride as well as the 350GT.

Thing i didn't understand, why didn't PD keep the original Team Oreca Viper, it was a freaking historic model for the chrysler company that LM season, not to mention it sported the sweetest paint job I've seen since GT2, PD should always try to keep older cars in the game, no need to remove stuff, and with PS3 Blu-ray just shove more cars in, the more the better, lol. Hopefully they will go with online downloads of newer cars and paint schemes. Time will tell.

Obviously, I haven't seen everything that will be at SEMA, but I think the Ralliart Eclispse should definitely be in GT5. Ditto for the Ford GTX1 and VW Jetta Project R GT.

I don't think it' s the first car to be unveiled though, we already have seen GT5 renditions of a Mazda RX7 and a Mitsubishi Evo 9.

Is anybody from Las Vegas gonna be in there? You could make quite a few new friends if you give us some news... :D

2005 Gran Turismo Awards "Best in Show" Winner: Stephen Papadakis' 2004 Honda S2000.

Is there only one car that can win, only Best In Show or several categories?
Like in past years, it's only the Best In Show winner that gets their car in the game. Nothing else but that car, despite several claims by several people here.

Thats a nice car in all, but just what we need, another custom s2000, i was really hoping tha twe would get somethign different again like the buick and even the HPA, something that the game didn't really have before, there are tons of tuner s2000s, hopefully they take that into consideration.

What do you mean "another tuned S2000?" In one respect, be thankful it isn't another Skyline, especially for those really hating with the "multiple Skylines" deal. What isn't there to like about the S2000? Don't let the badge make you think otherwise. The S2000 obviously isn't a Ferrari slayer, but what it is is a wonderful sports car that is a cross of a well-performing automobile that isn't really expensive. It looks like a good deal for illegal street racer turned drag racer and drifter Stephen Papadakis, or "Step" Papadakis for us tuner/sport compact/import types. I'm not going to go on the level of saying that tuned S2000s could be the new "multiple Skylines" issue. All I'm saying is that it's a great little car, even if the Honda namesake drives performance-type people away from this little player that could. So yeah, it's a Honda, but it's not a Honda. "John, what the **** are you talking about?" Well, if you associate Honda with "dull, bland, powerless, talentless, automobile," then the S2000 isn't a bland auto. Tuned up, it can be better than stock. I think it's a potent automobile for those who only think they make Civics and Accords and no-talent machines.

Having said this, congratulations to the winner of Best in Show. Whatever Best in Show is, have to applaud being able to have your automobile represented in perhaps one of the biggest racing games in the modern era. If it can perform, then there's plenty of reason to be happy. Same goes if there were several Corvettes, Mustangs, or even Carerra GTs... then one that gets Best in Show. So this is no different from no other.

What do you think would happen (just go with me here, it's wishful thinking) if a ferrari or Lamorghini or porsche won best in show for some odd reason?

Two possibilities. (1) PD will have to acquire the naming rights to the manufacturer's car of the Best in Show winner, granted its any of the car companies previosuly not in a GT game. (2) They probably won't need the name of the car, they can give the car some generic name, or just call it as after the tuners call it. So for example, a Best in Show Ferrari 360 Modena may be called either:

(team name) Ferrari 360 Modena (specialized name)
(team name) (specialized name) Exotic Car

Now, what would be even worse is if the Best in Show winner had Forza Motorsport as the livery! Then they'd have to replace the graphics with a similar or generic Gran Turismo livery. Other than that, I don't really know, Blackbird. I tried my best, though.

I doubt they'd have a license that gives them rights for any cars in the show that win. What would probably happen is they'd name the car after the name of tuner and the tuning kit and if the car wore any manufacturer emblens, remove them. Depending on how much the original shape of the car has been modified will depend on weather they can still use the car though. If it's not been changed cosmetically to a large engough extent then they'd still need to get a license to use that cars shape from the manufacturer.

Wasn't last year's GT4's pic not the show winners but a 'personal' PD 'contest/selection' ?

Isn't it the same this year?
