Similar to a thread on the Gran Turismo forum, say you first NFS's, how you got into NFS and say your first car for those applicable

NFS ProStreet
Say the first car you bought, not win

NFS UC
Say what you chose for each pinkslip (Except M6)

Games that you don't say your car
ALL NFS BEFORE UNDERGROUND
NFS HP
NFS RIVALS

Now for me

Got into NFS with the first Underground, played most NFS games made after it.

I've played this series since NFS III in 1998. I've begun trying to complete my collection. I haven't played them all thus far, but perhaps I can come back and update the thread when I get my hands on more installments.

On the games with a "career mode", I added a "Preferred First Car" field. Basically, the "First Car" field is the car I bought on my very first playthrough of the game. The "Preferred First Car" field is for the car I would get if I were to start a new game, now that I know how what is available to me throughout the game, and what would be the best starting choice.

Nice stuff, I don't remember the Miata being available at the start of Underground 2

In EU version you can choose Peugeot 206, Nissan 240SX, Peugeot 106, Vauxhall Corsa

In the NTSC version of Underground 2, you have the choice between the Ford Focus, Honda Civic, Mazda Miata, Nissan 240SX, Peugeot 206, and Toyota Corolla GT-S. We didn't get the 106 or the Corsa.

We get the Corrolla and Focus too, no Civic and Miata are unlocked later in the game

That very well could be the case.

I don't suppose the Acura RSX is available in your version of the game?

Never seen it but only got to near the end of stage 3. I'll make a thread to see the differences in car lists between different game versions next week

Need For Speed: Porsche Unleashed
First Played: 2001
First Car: Porsche 356 (don't recall exactly which variation but it was a coupe)
Preferred First Car: Varies by playthrough. The used car lot is randomized. Typically start with a Porsche 914

The PC version of Porsche Unleashed was the best NFS title of them all. Sad that they did not follow up with that but they came back with another hot pursuit arcade type game rather than try another sim. I played all the NFS titles up through Most Wanted or Carbon which ever was last of the two. I also played Pro Street and tried to play Shift and Shift 2 but hated both of them.

The first car in Porsche Unleashed is easy to remember as there are only two choices a 356 or a 356 and I did both of them on different play throughs.

The 914 is not available in evolution mode until almost 1/2 way through the game so it is not possible to start with that without hacking the game, which I have also done ;)

The used car lot is not active until after you win the first race, or at least that is the way it is on the PC version.

I've never played the PC version. The PS1 version is the only version I've played, and it differs completely from the PC version from what I've heard. (If I remember correctly, they were developed by completely different studios.) In the PS1 version, the used car lot is always randomized and available from the start.

Interesting, On the PC version it is all based on what year it is and it starts the year the first 356 was made so at that point in time there are no used models only the 2 new ones. The used car dealer is random on the PC but also based on year so cars there will always be older than the current year and the ones that are real old rarely show up at all. Most times they are cars from the last 5-10 years before the game date. The cars also go up in value over time so once you get to the last year [2000] it is really rare to find a 550 spider and if you do it will be wrecked and still cost millions where new it was 65k

I've never played the PS1 version. I know the PC had much better graphics and extra cars you could download and that you could play up to 8 players in multiplayer mode over the LAN or two player over a modem but beyond that I don't know what additional features it had over the console version.

I have heard that it does not drive that well on the console versions. I know on the PC it was the most realistic game I had played at that point in time and even now there are few if any console games that do a better job with the weight, handling and damage model that it used on the PC version.

i prefer the console version of the Porsche Unleashed since overall, the gameplay was a lot better than the PC.
