Hey guys. I don't actually have a PS2 but I'll head to my friends house later tonight and try out what I've learned from here. But I got 5 questions.
1. What's one of the best cars to learn to drift in? I'm thinking either the mr-2 or the Silvia.
2. How long should a beginner be able to drift? Like should I be able to get the whole corner in?
3. about how long did it take you guys to get confident enough to drift.. EVERYTIME...? And do you still mess up? Or can u do it consistantly?
4. Can people actually drift entire tracks?
5. On the vids I've been watchin, there are sweet CONSTANT camera angles. How do you KEEP an angle? I can't get the stupid replay crap to do what I want. I can only do like 2 views... one's in the car.. and ones out.. and out goes ALL over! How do you select the view and STAY on it?
Thanx a TON guys :) I really like ur board so far :)

Try drifting with the Supra or the RX-7. Also, turn off the ASM and TSC.

Well, it depends on each driver. It just takes practice ! :)

I mess up every time I have a drift session, but if you see my video, then you can see that it doesn't matter on how much you think you can do it, but if you know that you can do it :)

4. Can people actually drift entire tracks?
Yes. There's a drift video done by Drift God that shows him drifting Apricot Hill Raceway and Trial Mountain with a Lan Evo and a NSX.

I don't understand  In the videos, the views change, so you just take the section that you want to show and let the PS2 do all the work :D

No problem :D

Well... I like drifting.. It is, IMHO the goal of GT3 :) But I suck at it. But, after I switched to manual I did something I didn't think possible.. After the straight in Seattle (the one with the righthand kink in the middle ) I managed to pull one long smoking drift through the first right-hander, the right / left bend, the left / right bend and through the last 90 degrees right.. before the straight (yes there's a left/right before the straight but it doesn't count  )

Guess my point is: Keep trying and you'll do it :D

Good thing I saved the replay... I promise I'll see if I can get it up sometime during easter...

on your question about teh camera angles, check your replay settings and change the camera to fixed I think...just play around.
about your other qs

line is all important, as is looking ahead, I consider myself pretty good, but I still struggle with the first corner of apricot hill. so keeping the line whilst drifting is, I think, one of the most important aspects of drifting.
To do this you can use the throttle, brakes, or E-brake.
Keep on practising, I KNOW I WILL! :)

thio pretty much summed it up but i just have a few things to add:

1.it doesn't matter what you drive its possible to drift with all cars even front wheel drive. in fact its quite fun and v. easy since you just pull up the handbrake without taking your finger off the accelerator and the back slides out. i drift with the skyline and supra

you could always try out my skyline settings if your mate has the cash to buy a mod a skyline up to 1000bhp:

3. yes we all mess up, drifting is very hard but very rewarding :P

4. i dont think its possible to drift entire tracks in gt3 (as in still sliding on the straights) because the tracks are too big. but on race tracks like autumn ring in gt2 most definitely. don't worry about drifting entire tracks though its more or less possible to slide ur way through most corners and if you get one amazing drift per lap you are doing very well. usually people have a favourite track + corner or two and just wait for them to come up each lap.

(6.) welcome to the board! enjoy ur time here! ;P

on nightmares #1 its explains not how to drift a FF car but how to power slide. It is actually very hard to drift FF cars. Most people dont know what power sliding is and well.... Nightmare explained one of the ways to do it.

FF cars CAN DRIFT superb doriftoo.

How else can it be different than FR cars?

I think, first of all learn to drift in a 4WD car, I found EVO 5 (tuned to the max, with medium hard tires) very easy to drift doing feint drifting. Few days ago I tried RWD cars, and I noticed LSD tuning it's very important to do a long drift in medium and large corners. ;)

1. Any car would do just fine. The more power you have the easier it gets, since you can correct mistakes with the power. For eg. when the car starts to understeer during the drift you can just hit the gas to correct. Me and my lil bro drift just stock cars or just slightly modified ones.
2. For me it took a few months to drift the way i can now, and my lil bro did his first drift-every-corner lap with just a week of experience.(FF car. i think it was the FTO. He's propably better than me when it comes to FFs:mad: )
3. I haven't hit a wall in months... and i haven't had grip on the rear for ages... Can't remember exactly how long it took to learn... but now i can drift anything from the CuoreXX to the pathetic 2ton cars.
4. Drifting entire tracks is impossible due to the VERY! long straights in the game. But drifting every corner is no prob.
I just drifted 20laps in trial mountain with a stock FC3S, having grip just on the two longes straights.

IMO, the fastest way to learn drifting, is too have a little competition. That's how I mastered mine. When I live with my cousins, who are into import tuning and drifting, we bought GT1 and just go at it. So basically, I've been drifting since GT, but I didn't had the chance to try GT2 since I was sent to a Military Academy.

i dont only do drifts i perfect then to be the fastest.....i usually call then speed drift cause of the speed i gain while a drift but some people get afended..........but if u got GT3 easiest to start is supra or skyline r34

turn stability control to 2 and tcs to 1 good luck.........

try to perfect drift that are over 80 mph with a non modified...........i can....

peace!!

took me like a week total over like a month, i'm not the greatest but i'd say i'm pretty good, i'm putin together a vid of my stuff sooner or later so ppl ans see my drifto (<----- I cant spell japineese)
