Fixing Camera Angles

Please can somebody link me, and even post a sticky somewhere about how to get a fixed camera angle in replay mode. I was reading something the other day, but cannot find it again. It was something to do with ejecting the disk.

Thanks

Yes you select the "Dive" replay option and eject the disc(and keep it out), then use the X button to toggle through the different camera angles. Your PS2 will get a disc read error if the replay ends before you put the disc back in- but be careful as it takes a while for the PS2 to read the disc after its put back in.

I'm no expert on this but when I tried it once that's how I did it.

Say you are capturing clips to make a drift video, as we in the drift forum do. Then you might want to use the dive (aka, sync) camera to liven things up and make it a bit less monotonous looking.
Normally the dive camera changes angles every few seconds, making it difficult to capture an entire drift. This trick lets you hold a dive camera angle indefinitely.

Thanks BL, i knew i read it somewhere, but i thought it was here. I need it for a drift video where i want an in-car angle of an open top.

@Vonie: It works on any replay. But I like practice mode just so you have time before the lap starts to pick your camera.

I'd definitely suggest that you have a backup of your game though, just to cover your ass should the unthinkable happen and your game data corrupts (it hasn't for myself, DR, TRi, or anyone else that I know has used the trick). It'd also be a good idea to get the game disc back in before the end of the replay and give it time to spin up so you don't get the red disc thing immediately after the replay ends.

When I use it, I normally only go for one clip per replay at a time - that way I have time to get the angle I want well ahead of time. If there's 3 bits I want on the same lap, I'll run the replay 3 times snagging a different section each time. Trying to get the right camera angle inbetween 2 or more sections that you want to capture can be frustrating.

edit
@identti: no probs

Like in my video "Positive Lock"... *Plug-mode cancel*

Even with the replay trick, it still takes a while to get the camera angle you want, before the section you want to capture... Oh, and if you are going to capture, remember to not pause the game... If you do, when you un-pause, the camera angle could change... It doesn't happen every time, but it has happened to me a number of times...

Now, I just start the replay, eject the disc, start browsing through camera angles with X, and when it hits the right angle (and section of track) I start capturing...

(it hasn't for myself, DR, TRi, or anyone else that I know has used it the trick).

No problems here... i don't really think there is much to worry about... We used to do it all the time with GT3 (probably well over 200 times), and I never had any problems

Thanks a lot! 👍

I tried this on photomode and be warned, it DOES NOT work.
You can fix the angles, and play with the camera settings. But whwn you got to take and save the pic, the loading screen pops up with a red spinning thing.
Then you have to restart the PS2. It didn't screw up my game data, though.

It works for watching (and/or capturing) replays only... If you try and do anything else, the disc needs to be in, or the PS2 won't have any idea how to do what you're trying to make it do...

I wouldn't think it would affect your game data in any way, provided you have the Autosave set to minimum. Or you could even remove the memory card after the replay's loaded. I hate to rack up miles on any of my cars if I don't have to, so nearly all my Photomode stuff is done without saving the mods/settings on cars, just a hard reset when I'm done taking pictures, and my save has always been fine.

Still, cool to know, since I had no idea about it before I saw this 👍

Has anyone got any idea how many kinds of angles are there in the dive mode? I find it frustrating on switching to your desired camera angle. Its killing me.

I believe few angles are captured on the car, and most are fixed angle thats does not move even the car has passed the screen. Its real difficult to switch to the angles that will maintain capturing the car drive.
