Has anybody made music using FL Studio before? If so, what did you make (ie. Your own song, a cover from someone else) and could you post it for us all (a video or an mp3 link)??

I've made a few songs before, some are covers, and some are my own, I'll try and get them uploaded for you as soon as I can.

Here is a song I made called Electric Battle (It's not finished yet, but here is the first minute of it):

Just a quick image made in GIMP. (Click image to make it bigger)

I've also started making Moon Over the Castle! It doesn't sound amazing, but then again I'm terrible at making covers (It's also 1 minute long):

TomboFry, I have two recommendations, first I think they are a tad too quick paced, calm down a bit. Secondly, they sound too mechanical, calculated. At first listen I was like "oh no" but through repeated listens I grew too like them, particularly the original one.

How can you fix them? Bring the tempo a bit down, why the rush? Also, FL has a "humanizing" option to make the instruments not play perfectly on the tempo but flunctuate a bit, that should give a warmer result.

Lastly, I've always liked only the purely synthesized sounds of FL in contrast to the sampled ones or dreadful midi, except if that is the effect you are going for.

Having said that, musicality underlines both songs and it's what I keep. May your 10th song really break free from the 'beta' feel.

Keep it up. 👍

The first one was actually one I made for a game I tried making. That is why it is fast and mechanical sounding.

As for Moon Over the Castle, I can't seem to make realistic sounding rock music, but then again, FL Studio really was made for mainly techno/dance style music (Correct me if I am wrong). I have heard about humanizing, but I've never really tried it. I like making game music, and I think 8-bit sounds cool, so my music usually sounds like MIDI, and quite often, I export the song as MIDI (This also means it can be used in this program - Yes, that's the same song but in 8-bit.)

I need to make better music... :grumpy:

Here is a Christmas song I finished about last night.

And here's an original and my first attempt at Dubstep using FL Studio

Both songs are almost entirely made using the plugin Nexus 2

Don't worry, I'm not anything great I'm still learning too :)

How long have you been using FL Studio? and which plugins are you using?

Also try using this for your 8-bit songs it's nice and easy to use, I used it in my zelda cover.

My dream right now is to be a drum & bass producer, or atleast make some 'Dnb.
But I have no experience in FL Studio not one bit. Where could I learn?

I would simply suggest to just fooling around with the program. Figure out which knobs do what, play with the beat sequencer and playlist a bit. FL Studio is a very explorable program, you don't need to already know a thing or two about music to get your bearings and it's a very great program for beginners.
It's very easy to load up the program for the first time and make a simple beat.

But, with that said, don't be expecting to become a pro in less than a week. It will certainly involve a lot of patience, time, effort, and frustration to get the sounds you want.

After you've fooled around with it a bit I think a good a place to start is: http://audio.tutsplus.com/category/tutorials/fl-studio/
They've got a quite a bit of FL Studio Tutorials on there for beginners to advanced users.

This website: http://www.theflipsideforum.com/index.php?board=4.0
has a great community for FL Studio users, beginner or advanced

If you're absolutely serious about getting in to music production, the best advice I can give you is to always be humble. Don't belittle other people because they don't "understand" your music, or don't be that prick who thinks that he is the greatest musician alive. Respect or maybe even heed to all kinds of criticisms and hopefully it'll make you a better producer.

I've used it but the interface is confusing as hell at first.
