Flags

Definitely think some flags, warnings and penalties for not obeying them would add to realism, even if they're not animated with track marshals (although that would be cool).
Even Toca series on PSOne had penalty systems in place.
Anyway I must pull myself away from this forum and remember the fact that I'm married with two kids!!! (My wife has three kids if you get my meaning!!!)

Would perhaps be all too easy to miss a flag in lifelike proportion being waved trackside*, perhaps the flag needs to be oversized. Or a flag icon could flash up.

tracks like Le Mans, Singapore and Yas Marina have 'flag lights' at Marshall posts

Grand Prix 2 for PC (1996) had marshalls waving flags.
My first ever proper race sim!!

Since there is a marshall waving the checkered flag at the end of the races I think it would be possible to have green, yellow or blue flags.

Plus the Slippery Surface (Caution) Flag and, of course BLACK Flag...You're Disqualified !!!

Having some sort of on-screen warning that there's trouble ahead on the track would come in handy. You'd hate to have your race ruined by smashing into another car without any warning as you round a corner or are some distance away from the trouble scene.

Especially for blue flags.

Blue flags would be great for online legue racing. Would be able to include penalties alongside it.
A yellow flag/Code60 would be a great idea as well.
